How To Use Vinted Image Search To Find Cheaper Items

This simple Vinted image search hack helps me find cheaper listings in seconds! Here’s how to use Vinted’s image search function to save money.
Are you using Vinted’s image search function? I love using it to find cheaper items.
Now, I’m not going to pretend that image search is some amazing new hack, because it’s not.
The feature has been available for a while now, and it’s something people had been clamouring for for quite some time, myself included.
The thing is, when you’re looking for something very specific on Vinted, it’s not always easy to find exactly what you’re after.
While you might describe a dress as a blue floral print dress, someone else might list it as a ditsy 90s-style dress in turquoise.
The colour brown can be described as anything from beige to chocolate. Everyone uses slightly different wording, which can make searching a bit hit-and-miss.
Also, the ‘similar items’ feed isn’t always particularly accurate either (or at least for me it isn’t!)
Vinted image search is a great way to get around these issues and find duplicates of exactly what you’re looking for, and hopefully for a lower price, too.

Of course, there’s no guarantee, but I find it works especially well with high street brands where hundreds, if not thousands, of the same item were originally sold and are now being resold on Vinted.
There’s no guarantee you’ll find the exact size you’re looking for, either, but it’s so quick and easy to do that it’s always worth a shot, especially if there’s an item you really want.
How to Use Vinted Image Search
Using Vinted image search is really simple.
- Find an item you like on Vinted and take a screenshot, or use an image from your camera roll of an item you’ve seen elsewhere.
- Open the Vinted app and tap the camera icon in the search bar.
- Upload your screenshot or photo.
- Vinted will then show listings that look visually similar to the image you’ve uploaded.
I like to use screenshots of items I’ve already found on Vinted, especially when I think a listing is a bit overpriced for what it is.
It’s a quick way to see whether the same item is available elsewhere for less money.
You can also use image search for items you’ve spotted in shops, on social media or on retailer websites if you’d prefer to shop them second-hand instead.
My Recent Vinted Image Search Bargain
I’ve recently been looking for a summery rattan-style bag on Vinted. I try to avoid buying directly from fast-fashion brands where I can, so Vinted is often the perfect place to look for something inexpensive.
I found a bag I liked, but it was £5 and originally from Shein. By the time you add on fees and postage, the total cost is probably around the same as buying it new.
Now, I’m aware that some people argue you shouldn’t include Vinted fees and shipping costs when comparing prices, because you’d pay those when ordering from many online retailers, too.
However, it does affect how much I’m personally willing to pay. If I were buying new, it would probably be in-store with no shipping fees or via click and collect.
Anyway, I digress.
I took a quick screenshot of the bag I liked, popped it into the image search and voilà!
Lots of listings for exactly the same bag appeared, many priced at just £1 or £2.
Okay, so that’s only a few pounds saved.
But considering how much I buy on Vinted – the majority of my clothes and a lot of my children’s clothing too – those little savings soon start to add up.
Of course, it’s worth comparing things like the condition of the item you’re buying.
The more expensive bag might be in better shape (although in this case it wasn’t!), while some of the cheaper listings could have marks, damage or signs of wear.
Things to Watch Out For
When using Vinted image search, it’s worth remembering that the cheapest option isn’t always the best value.
Always compare the condition of the items, read the descriptions carefully and check the photos.
Two listings might look identical in the search results, but look more closely, scroll through the images, and one could be brand new while another has noticeable wear and tear.
It’s also worth factoring in buyer protection fees and postage when deciding whether something is actually a bargain.
That said, I’ve found Vinted image search to be one of the easiest ways to compare listings quickly and make sure I’m not overpaying.
Why I Always Check Vinted Before Buying New
Something else I often do is take a look at Vinted before buying something I’ve seen in a shop.
If I spot an item I like in-store, I’ll quickly check whether someone is selling the same thing second-hand first.
Sometimes I grab a bargain, and it helps reduce the environmental impact of buying new things – it’s one of my favourite ways to save money on Vinted.
