Looking to make some extra cash before Christmas?
Selling your old stuff on Vinted is a great way to do it. I’ve been selling on Vinted for a few years now, and these are my top Vinted selling tips to help you sell faster and make more money.
The popularity of the second-hand shopping app Vinted has exploded in recent years, with more and more people shopping pre-loved to save cash and help the environment.
At the same time, hundreds of thousands of people are listing items too, which means there’s more competition than ever.
But don’t worry… with a few simple tweaks, you can still get more views, more favourites, and more sales.
One of the things that makes Vinted more popular than some of its peers like eBay or Depop is that Vinted doesn’t charge sellers a fee, so if you’ve got stuff to sell, you keep all of the profit.
This article is packed with practical tips for selling on Vinted, so you can maximise sales and make as much money as possible.
How To Sell On Vinted: 22 Vinted Selling Tips
1. Iron Your Clothes Before Selling on Vinted
The better your items look, the more likely they are to sell – and I say this as someone who hates ironing.
I only iron for Vinted and special occasions, but it really does make a difference.
Creases can make clothes look worn, or like they’ve been stuffed in a drawer for years, even if they’re actually in great condition.
Quick tip: If you can’t face the ironing board, a quick steam (or even hanging it in the bathroom while you shower) is better than nothing.
2. Take Clear Photos in Good Light
As someone who buys a lot of clothes on Vinted as well as selling them, I get so frustrated with poor-quality photos especially when they don’t show the item properly.
Most buyers want to see the full length of jumpers, jeans and t-shirts (front and back), not just one folded-up photo on the bed. And blurry photos are a definite no, especially if you’re only adding one picture.
Quick tip: Natural daylight near a window is your best friend, it makes colours look more accurate and helps your listing look instantly more trustworthy.

Photo tip for bundles
If you’re selling a bundle, take one main photo of everything together, then add a few more photos showing the items individually (or a couple at a time) so buyers can see them properly.
People don’t always scroll through all the photos when they’re browsing the feed, so if they only see one item, they might assume the price is too high and scroll straight past, without realising it’s actually a bundle of several items.
Photograph the label too
Finally, take a photo of the label inside the clothes, especially if you’re not planning to upload the item to Vinted straight away.
It’s a handy reminder for you (size and brand), and it’s useful info for the buyer, too.
I often see items listed as age 3 for example, and I always want to know whether that means 2–3 or 3–4 oe just age 3.
A quick label photo clears it up instantly.
3. Batch Take Images And Upload To Vinted Later
One thing I really like about Vinted is how easy it is to upload each item.
Even though the process is quick, you might find it easier to take photos of everything in one go, then do the uploading later, for example in the evening while you’re watching TV.
I take pictures in my bedroom for Vinted, and there are only a few hours each day when the light is actually bright enough (especially in winter!).
So I try to photograph loads of clothes during that good-light window, then upload them to Vinted over the next few evenings once the children are in bed and I can properly concentrate on what I’m writing.
4. Use Keywords in Your Title (Don’t Rely on Hashtags) and Add A Detailed Description
Sometimes it can be hard to know what to write in your Vinted title and description, but honestly the more detail the better. It helps buyers trust you, and it also makes your item easier to find in search.
One of the easiest ways to get more views on Vinted is to use clear keywords in your title, because that’s what buyers are searching for. Try to include things like the brand, colour, item type and size.
For example, this is how I’d list boys joggers:
“Boys Blue Adidas Joggers age 5–6”
rather than just:
“Boys joggers”
Especially with children’s clothing, I always add the age in the title. This is because Vinted doesn’t always give an option for sizes like 5–6 or 6–7, so when you select a size during the upload process you often have to pick just one (either age 5 or age 6).
This is something I really think Vinted needs to improve, because when buyers search for “age 5” they can end up seeing a mix of 4–5 and 5–6, and one of those might not be suitable.
When it comes to hashtags, I personally don’t think they matter as much as a good title and description.
I’ll sometimes add a couple if they feel relevant, but I wouldn’t spend ages thinking of loads.
You’re better off using that time to add clear photos and a detailed description.
5. Be Honest About Any Defaults
Most people on Vinted know they’re buying second-hand items, so they’ll expect some signs of wear unless something is listed as brand new.
It really helps to be honest about any defects and photograph them clearly as part of your listing. This saves hassle, avoids complaints, and helps buyers trust you.
If you’re ever unsure whether to list an item as “very good”, “good” or “satisfactory”, it’s safer to choose the one below.

Also, it’s worth mentioning, having the original box doesn’t mean an item can be listed as new. Nor does having only used an once or twice.
I recently bought a doll for my daughter that was listed as “brand new in box”, but it arrived with stained clothing and a pen mark on its face.
No buyer is going to be happy with that.
6. Price Your Items Competitively
Pricing on Vinted can be tricky.
Of course, you want to make money, but at the same time there are often lots of other sellers with similar items priced the same or cheaper. You have to balance getting a fair price with making the effort of photographing, uploading, packaging, and taking the item to the drop-off point worth it.
When you list an item, Vinted will suggest a price based on similar items for sale, but this doesn’t always account for whether your item is new or whether you’re selling a large bundle.
I’ve also seen many sellers add around 25% to their prices to allow for buyers making offers.
In my experience, women’s high street brand clothing such as Next, M&S, and TU tends to sell for around £3 to £5 per item, or more if brand new with tags.
For children’s clothing, bundles usually sell better.
Buyers often won’t want to pay £2.29 postage and fees on a single £1 item. Price depends on the bundle size, but I’ve recently sold 10 leggings for £4 and five jumpers for £4. These were well-used and listed as playwear.
For bigger items like children’s coats, I’ve sold them for £3 to £5 used, and £8 to £10 if brand new with tags.
You can usually get more for nicer brands such as Frugi or Joules.
If you price slightly higher than you’d like, you can always lower the price after a few weeks if the item doesn’t sell.

7. Don’t Upload Too Many ‘Brand New With Tags’ Items
Vinted is all about second-hand clothing, so uploading too many brand-new items at once could put your account at risk.
Most of us will have a few brand-new items to sell, and that’s fine. I would just recommend limiting how many you upload at the same time, and not adding more than three or four in a single day.
8. Sell Clothes in Pre-Made Bundles
One of my top Vinted selling tips is to create bundles of lower-value items, especially children’s clothing. Bundles of leggings, t-shirts, pyjamas, or school uniforms tend to sell really well.
Bundles work because the buyer gets multiple items for one set of delivery fees, and it makes life easier for you as the seller – you’re clearing several items at once with only one trip to the post office. It’s a win-win.
Just remember to weigh your bundle before listing and choose the correct postage option for the size of the parcel.
9. Offer a Discount for Bundles
Offering a discount for bundles can encourage more sales, especially if you’re selling lots of lower-priced items.
You can switch on bundle discounts in the settings and set it so the discount increases with more items bought. For example, two items might be 10% off, four items 20% off, and so on.
As a buyer, I often find pre-made bundles have too many items I don’t need. I also don’t like paying £2.29 postage plus fees on a single £1 item.
Creating a bundle, especially with a generous discount, is one of the main ways I shop on Vinted – I’m always a little disappointed when a seller doesn’t have the bundle discount switched on!
10. Double-Check Parcel Sizes
Another important Vinted selling tip is to double-check the weight of your parcel before listing, especially if it’s a heavy homeware item or a large clothing bundle.
Single items like t-shirts and dresses usually won’t weigh more than the parcel size suggested by Vinted.
I’ve had buyers cancel and ask me to rebuy because they calculated the postage incorrectly and only realised after I had purchased.
I wasn’t bothered, but I know some buyers might find it frustrating or may not be willing to pay the difference.
There is also the issue of the buyer not being refunded immediately – they may not have the funds to rebuy the item right away.
11. Upload New Items at the Weekend
Weekends are the best time to upload items on Vinted because more people are browsing the app, which increases the chances your listings will be seen.
12. Only List Items Approved by Vinted
Are there things you can’t sell on Vinted?
Yes.
Listing items that aren’t allowed could get your listing removed, and if it happens repeatedly, it could put your account at risk.
For example, in the home category, you cannot sell used bedding, duvets, sheets, or towels these must be new with tags.
Vinted also doesn’t allow sharp kitchen items like knives, or large appliances such as coffee machines or microwaves.
If you’re unsure, Vinted has a full list of prohibited items on the app and website, so it’s worth checking before you upload anything.
You can also use this to add more images, change the description and change the category if you need to.
13. Offer As Many Postage Options as You Can
The more postage options you offer, the more likely you are to make a sale, as different buyers have different preferences.
Some will always choose the cheapest option, while others may prefer to avoid certain couriers, like Evri, if they’ve had problems with them in the past.
The main thing is to make sure whichever postage options you offer, you can get to the drop-off point easily and as often as needed.
15. Send Offers When Other Vinted Users Like Your Items
If someone favourites your item on Vinted, you can send them an offer for a reduced price.
This may encourage them to buy and shows that you’re open to accepting a slightly lower price. The buyer might accept, or they may come back with a counteroffer.
16. Edit the Price of Your Item
If your items have been listed for a few months but haven’t sold, you can edit the price. Go to your listing, click the three dots in the top-right corner, then choose “Edit.”
From there you can change the price and save the listing. Anyone who has favourited the item will get an update about the new price, which can help encourage sales.
17. Message Users About How Soon You Can Post
One way to increase sales on Vinted is to message anyone who favourites your items to let them know how soon you can post.
This can encourage buyers if they know the item will reach them quickly. Just make sure you send the items within the timeframe you suggest and have a backup plan in case postal lockers are full.
18. Answer Messages Quickly
Life can be hectic, but the sooner you respond to messages about your items, the more likely you are to make a sale.
If it takes a few days to reply, the buyer may have already found the item from another seller. Even a quick message to say you’ll check measurements (or whatever they’re asking about) later that day helps. Good communication is key.
19. Package Your Items Well
It’s your responsibility as a seller to make sure items are well-packaged so they arrive in the best possible condition.
Personally, I always double wrap anything I’m selling on Vinted.
Reusing packaging is common on Vinted, so don’t be afraid to use carrier bags, bubble wrap, and paper packaging to secure your items.
Remember that couriers may leave parcels outside, even in wet weather, so it’s best to avoid brown paper or manila envelopes for larger items.
No one wants to come home to a soggy parcel!
20. Post Quickly Once an Item Has Sold
As a buyer, it’s frustrating to wait a long time for items to be posted.
Of course, life gets in the way — most of us have work, families, and other commitments — but the sooner you can send a parcel, the better.
Vinted gives sellers five working days to post, which generally means up to seven days including weekends. If there’s going to be a delay, it’s best to let the buyer know.
21. Change Things Up
The more you upload to Vinted, the more people will see your items. Try adding a few items each day instead of uploading twenty or thirty at once.
If sales start to slow, there are a few ways to refresh interest. You could edit the price, offer a discount to anyone who has liked the item, or group items into a bundle instead of selling them individually.
While Vinted offers a paid “bump” option, I find it’s often better to delete and relist with a slightly different title or description. I usually create bigger, cheaper bundles every few months to clear items that haven’t sold or attracted interest. Just make sure to delete the old listing first.
22. Delete and Relist
If items aren’t selling, deleting and relisting can help give them new visibility.
This can be time-consuming, but it’s worth it if it leads to new sales. You could also take better photos or update the description to included better or more detailed keywords when you relist.
23. Don’t Forget to Use Holiday Mode
If you’re going away, turn on holiday mode so your items are hidden and you don’t need to worry about posting while you’re away.
Some Vinted users suggest that briefly using holiday mode can give your listings a small boost when you switch it off, sometimes called the “Vinted Holiday Mode Hack.”
I wouldn’t do this too often, but it can be worth trying if sales have been slow and you haven’t used holiday mode before.
24. Don’t Accept Payments Outside of Vinted – It could be a scam
If a buyer asks you to sell an item outside of Vinted, this is a huge red flag – do not proceed!
Selling through Vinted gives protection for both buyers and sellers.
25. Leave Feedback and Build Up Your Reviews
Once your item has been delivered and everything’s gone smoothly, don’t forget to leave feedback for the buyer. It only takes a few seconds, but it helps keep your account looking active and reliable.
The more positive reviews you build up, the more confident buyers will feel purchasing from you, especially if you’re selling higher-value items or big bundles of clothing.

Selling On Vinted FAQ
Does Vinted charge seller fees?
No, Vinted doesn’t charge sellers a fee to sell items. This is one of the reasons I prefer it to some other platforms.
What fees does Vinted take?
Vinted fees are usually paid by the buyer (called buyer protection), along with postage. As a seller, you receive the full amount you sold the item for.
How do I get paid on Vinted?
Once your item has been delivered and the buyer confirms everything is OK (or the sale completes automatically), the money goes into your Vinted balance.
You can then withdraw it to your bank account or spend it towards purchases on the Vinted app.
How long does it take to get paid on Vinted?
It depends how quickly the parcel arrives and how soon the buyer confirms delivery, but in most cases it’s fairly quick once the item has been received – usually within a few days.
Should I accept offers on Vinted?
That’s totally up to you. If I want a quick sale, I’ll often accept a reasonable offer. If something is brand new with tags or a popular item, I’m more likely to hold out for my asking price.
If a buyer sends an offer you’re not happy with, you can also send a counter offer.
Do I need to include measurements in my listings?
It’s not essential for every item, but it can really help, especially for women’s clothing where sizing can vary hugely.
Do hashtags help on Vinted?
Personally, I don’t think hashtags matter as much as having a clear title and description with the right keywords. I’ll sometimes add one or two, but I don’t spend ages thinking of loads and I avoid adding irrelevant hashtags.
What can’t you sell on Vinted?
There are quite a lot of restricted items, and listing them could get your item removed. If you’re unsure, it’s always worth checking the Vinted prohibited items list on the app or website before uploading.
Is Vinted safe to use?
In general, yes. The main thing is to keep everything on the app and avoid anyone trying to take payment or conversations elsewhere.
If something feels off, trust your gut and don’t go ahead with the sale.
What should I do if a buyer has a problem with an item?
Try not to panic. Reply politely, stay honest, and keep all communication on Vinted.
If you’ve clearly described and photographed any faults, it usually makes these situations much easier to resolve.
