Okay, I admit it. I am obsessed with Vinted at the moment. It probably has a lot to do with all of the shops being closed and not being able to go for a good rummage around the charity shops.
I recently wrote about buying children’s clothes on Vinted (including sandals with an RRP of £65 for £12) so I thought it might be good to write about the clothes I’ve bought for myself and how to find the best bargains on vinted.
I often talk about my passion for slow fashion here on my blog as it’s something I really enjoy writing about and practising in real life.
Vinted has seen a surge in popularity in the last year, in part I think, due to everyone being home and spending some of that time having a good old clearout. It can be hard to let go of clothes that we’ve spent a lot of money on so earning something back can be a great incentive.
This means it’s great for buyers too as there are lots of listings and many items are very cheap.
I’ve got myself lots of lovely new summer clothes in recent weeks and I wanted to share some of my bargains and give some tips on how to get the best bargains on Vinted.
I have my home feed set to showing size 12 and 14 clothes, size 5 and size 6 shoes and ages 5-6 years clothes for my daughter (you can read about the Vinted bargains I got for her in this post, including brand new shoes for £12.00 that retail at £65.00).
I’ve also found the algorithms to be really good.
For example, I love Joules clothing, I often search for it or take a closer look a Joules items.
My feed now often shows me Joules clothing as soon as it’s been uploaded, and because of this, in recent weeks I’ve nabbed brand new Joules Wellies for £17.50 (RRP is £40+) and a Joules Raincoat for £20.

What Is Vinted?
Vinted is a buying and selling app which launched in 2008. It is also a great way to save money on clothes.
In some ways Vinted is similar to eBay, however, there are no auctions and sellers set their price at the price they want to sell for.
Most of the items on Vinted are clothes, shoes and jewellery but I have seen books, toys and homeware on there too.
When you purchase an item, Vinted holds the money until you mark the item as received. This lets the seller know your parcel has arrived and that you are happy with it and Vinted releases the money to the seller.
If you don’t do this and the parcel tracking says you have received the item, Vinted will automatically pay the seller within two weeks.
The same happens if the seller doesn’t send your item, you’ll receive a refund once two weeks have passed.
Right on to the best bit – how you can find the best bargains on Vinted . . .

Finding The Best Bargains on Vinted
1. Filter To Lowest Price First
One thing I love about Vinted is that the app makes it easy to filter your search results, as well as to tailor your home feed to only show items in your size (or whatever sizes you’re looking for, this can include kids’ clothes and shoes for example).
Of course, there are times when I’m looking for something specific, such as jeans or I just want to browse clothes from a specific brand.
When I do this, after searching for that item I tend to change the ‘sort by’ settings to price ‘low to high’ meaning I’ll see the cheapest items first.
Items on Vinted start at £1 so if you’re a bit of a bargain hunter this is a great way to go, although, with fees and postage costs, £1 items can often end up costing around £5 so it might not seem worth it.
More on how to tackle this later in the post!

2. Use The Favourite Button On Vinted
I like using the favourite (heart-shaped) button on Vinted for several reasons.
It can help stop impulse purchases as you can easily find something you like again later and decide whether or not you want it (sometimes known as the 24-hour rule when shopping.)
You can also compare similar items for condition and price and build a little mini wardrobe of ideas and styles that might work together.
When you hit the favourite button sellers sometimes offer a discount to encourage you to buy. If you find something that is a bit out of your price range, hit the favourite button and see if it comes down in price.
The only downside to doing this is that sometimes items are snapped up by other buyers before you get the chance to buy them, so if you love something and it’s a bargain, buy it!
There have been some items I’ve regretted not buying sooner and then they’ve sold.
3. Find The Best Bargains On Vinted By Searching For Readymade Bundles
Just like on eBay, searching for bundles of clothes can be a great way to save money and find bargains on Vinted.
You’ll often find people don’t have the time or energy to photograph and list lots of individual items so will list big bundles of mixed clothing instead.
Some people also post whole outfits that you can purchase in one go, too.
While postage can be a little bit more (I find it’s around £5 for a big bundle with Evri), if you’re getting lots of items, it’s saving on paying the standard £2.90 for individual items from lots of different sellers over and over again.
For example, I recently bought a bundle of four summer tops for £10.
One of the tops was brand new with tags and had an RRP of £24.
Worth buying even with postage fees and Vinted fees. I also bought a pair of jeans from the same seller which cost £12 but again, brand new with the tags on and would have been £45 new.
Plus, I saved even more money by combining postage and fees.
How To Search For Bundles On Vinted
Searching for bundles on Vinted is easy, simply type your search term and add bundles to the end of it.
You can then filter by size and condition if you need to. You could also save your search to come back to later.
Here are some bundles I regularly search for on Vinted
- Baby Boy clothing bundle 12-18 months
- Girls Pyjamas Bundles 6-7 years
- Ladies Tops Bundle size 14
Bundles are a great way to purchase items that if being sold individually, you probably wouldn’t be interested in as the postage and fees make the overall cost not worth it.
The only small issue I find with searching for bundles is some single items do come up if the the seller has the word bundle in the description but it’s not referring to the item, eg. ‘Bundle discounts are on if you want to buy more than one item’.

4. Find The Best Bargains On Vinted By Searching Through A Sellers Other Items
One of the easiest ways to find the best bargains on Vinted is to take a look through a seller’s other items when you see something you like.
I find this works for me because often I’ll find people are selling lots of the same size, brand or style of clothing for roughly the same price, meaning I’m more likely to find items I like.
The Vinted app makes this really easy to do. When you click on an item you can then scroll down and see what else that person has for sale. You then click the ‘shop’ button to make your own bundle.
Many sellers (although not all) will offer an automatic discount the more items you buy. This can range from 10% for buying two or three items to as much as 50% if you’re buying five or more items.
Sometimes the discount will increase with the more items you buy.
As well as this discount, buying lots of items from the same seller means you’ll be able to combine postage fees and save on vinted fees too.
Once you’ve created a bundle, you can ask for a discount using the offer button once the seller has confirmed your order.

5. Double-Check Prices Against Buying New
While I’m passionate about buying second-hand, I know that some people do prefer to buy new.
While there are plenty of brand-new items on Vinted, I have found that sometimes they are listed for more than what they would have cost brand-new which can be frustrating.
Buying new is sometimes preferable because at least when buying from a shop you can return garments if they don’t fit.
You may also qualify for free delivery if you spend a lot of money and of course, there aren’t any additional fees like there are on Vinted. Plus you might be able to use a cashback site or find a discount code.
I found this recently with a pair of shoes I liked for my daughter. While I thought the price was reasonable on Vinted – the shoes were half-price in the sale on the brand’s website so were actually cheaper to buy new.
6. Get The Best Bargains On Vinted By Opting For Lowest Cost Postage
Most Vinted sellers (although not all) offer a few different postage options.
The cheapest is usually with Evri, collecting the parcel from your nearest Evri or Inpost pickup point. If you’re working and don’t tend to be home during the day this option is perfect as it gives you the freedom to pick up items whenever you like.
I also like to use this option on lower-priced items. If I’m paying £1-2 for one item adding on £3 plus for postage can seem like loads whereas £3 postage on 10 items that cost £20 seems much more reasonable.
Vinted doesn’t always give you the cheapest postage option either and some sellers offer you a choice of couriers including Yodel, Evri and Royal Mail. I tend to just pick whichever is the cheapest.
Can You Get Free Postage On Vinted?
As an incentive to encourage new sellers, Vinted sometimes pays for postage, meaning the buyer pays nothing for the delivery of their items. Not having to pay for postage means you could get items for as little as £1.38

As far as I know, there is no way to specifically search for new sellers with this offer although items with free postage tend to go very quickly, so if you spot something you want that has free postage, order quickly.
7. Offer A Lower Price
If an item is a good price already, especially with something like a big children’s clothing bundle, I tend not to do this.
However, if there is a high-priced item you love but is a bit out of budget it’s always worth sending an offer using the offer button.
Many sellers price slightly higher than they would like so they can accept a lower offer and make you feel like you’re getting a bargain.
And even if your offer isn’t accepted, the seller may counter with their offer, or you can still pay full price if you want to.
It’s worth remembering that you can only send a limited number of offers per day, so use them wisely.

8. Search The Similar Items Tab
When you look at an item on Vinted, you can then scroll down to see that seller’s other items. At the top there is a tab you can switch to that will show you similar items from different sellers.

This feed will often show the same items for sale and can be handy for comparing prices.
Take a look at the example below. Two identical children’s toys, both brand new, but with a huge price difference!

How To Find The Best Bargains On Vinted – More Tips
What To Search On Vinted To Find Bargains
What to search on Vinted will, of course, depend on what you’re looking for. I usually use the search function to search for specific brands or items, and then use the filters to get the size I need.
I find if I put the size in my search term I get loads of different sizes of that item show up anyway, so filtering works much better.
As I mentioned above, searching for bundles can ensure you get more for your money and save on postage and fees, too.
When buying a bundle I still always check the seller’s other items to see if there is anything else I want to buy and have found this yields great results when shopping for children’s clothing especially.
The more you search specific items, the more of that item you’ll see on your home feed, too.
How To Find Good Stuff On Vinted
One of the best ways to find good stuff on Vinted is to check the app regularly. I have some saved searches and they often come up with hundreds of new items even in really short periods of time.
You could also try adjusting your search terms to make sure you’re covering all bases if you’re looking for something specific.
Keep Looking To Find The Best Bargains on Vinted
With over 8 million users, thousands of new items are added to Vinted every day, so if you have some specific items in mind, just keep looking.
You can save searches on Vinted and I find weekends are particularly good for finding new things as people are busy sorting out and uploading items.
Are There Any Downsides To Shopping On Vinted?
Of course, like everything, there are some downsides to shopping on Vinted.
Just as with any second-hand clothing purchase, sometimes it can be hard to get the sizing right.
I’m usually a size 12- 14 and I’ve ordered jeans in the same style and brand as ones I already own and they’ve not fitted.
I’ve had them be both too big and too small.
And of course, you can’t return garments as you would with a brand-new purchase unless the items are not as described by the seller, and even then you have to pay return postage costs to get a refund.
This can sometimes make buyers feel as though Vinted sides with sellers and their customer service team isn’t the easiest to get a response from.
When an item doesn’t fit or isn’t quite right, I tend to just stick it straight on Facebook Marketplace or back on Vinted for the same price I paid. Most of the time I’ve been able to resell items meaning I haven’t been out of pocket.
I’ve had one buyer who didn’t send the item – Vinted refunded me but I was gutted as was something I really needed and really liked!
As I mentioned before, paying an extra £3-4 on postage and fees can seem like a lot for items that are only £1.
I also find that Vinted sellers’ photographs and descriptions aren’t the best and clothes are frequently listed as the wrong size or brand.
That said, it’s rare to find items that cheap even in a charity shop let alone new so it’s swings and roundabouts as to whether you feel it’s a fair amount to pay.
Overall, I love finding the best bargains on Vinted and have had a really good experience buying second-hand clothes on the app. It’s my current go-to for clothes for my daughter and myself and I’ve also started buying toys and other household bits on there. I just need to try my hand at selling on there now!
Vinted Q&A – Your Vinted Questions Answered
What Are The Best Things To Buy On Vinted?
Vinted is mostly geared towards buying clothing and shoes, but there are plenty of homeware items, toys and books for sale too.
I mainly buy women’s and children’s clothing, but have also bought gift,s including a Harry Potter-themed mug.
While I have searched for men’s clothing for my husband, there is much less choice in both sizing and styles, although that’s not to say you won’t find what you’re looking for – my other half can be quite fussy!
I’ve recently been looking at brand new with tags items and found some great bargains, including a kid’s FatFace dungaree set with an RRP of £34 for £5.
Children’s shoes are very popular at the moment as well. Often kids don’t wear trainers for long before needing a new size so there are some great branded bargains to be had.
Look out for shoes and trainers that are cheap due to being a bit grubby – there are loads of great TikToks showing how to get them clean and white again!
Is Postage Free On Vinted?
Typically postage isn’t free on Vinted, however, it is sometimes offered as an incentive to get people selling on the app for the first time.
So, if you spot an item with no postage fees, snap it up and enjoy the savings!
How To Avoid Getting Scammed On Vinted (6 Vinted Scams You Need To Be Aware Of)
Why Are Things So Cheap On Vinted?
Many people who use Vinted are keen to get rid of their items and declutter their homes. Cheaper prices mean that they are more likely to sell their items and make some extra cash.
How Does Vinted Make Money?
You might be wondering how Vinted makes money if they don’t charge sellers a fee. Well, there are two main ways in which Vinted makes money.
The first is the fee that they charge the buyers, the ‘buyer protection fee’. While this does cover the buyer if anything goes wrong, overall more fees are charged than Vinted will need to pay out when items go missing.
If you’re a regular Vinted user, you’ll have also spotted ads that come up in your feed while using the app and this is another way the platform makes money.
While these ads can be a little annoying, I do find them much less intrusive than the ads on Gumtree and Shpock, so they don’t bother me too much and certainly don’t put me off using the app.
Is Vinted Better Than Depop?
Personally, I much prefer Vinted to Depop. I find the feed on Depop just doesn’t give enough information about the items without having to click and the search function isn’t always particularly accurate.
I also find Vinted has more clothes in my style and more children’s clothes but that might just be an age thing! I do think Depop is very popular with Gen Z.
Sellers on Vinted do have the ‘make an offer’ button on their page, which means you can send an offer if you would like to, but the seller may reject it or come up with a counteroffer.
Often, I find items are so cheap anyway that I feel bad offering less money.
Overall I am a huge fan of Vinted for shopping second-hand and the more I use the app the quicker I get at finding exactly what I want. I would now say I buy the majority of both mine and my children’s clothes on Vinted.
I’ve also started buying more homeware – I plan to wean my baby boy soon, and I’ve bought his plates, weaning bibs and some highchair accessories all from Vinted.

I enjoyed reading this piece. I do remember hearing about Vinted some time ago and I think I might even have created an account too.
I would have a lot to sell there as we still have all our smart suits etc from our teaching days.
I still think we have more clothes than we need for now and we haven’t bought ourselves anything new in a couple of years.
The last time I went to CT and Fla I purchased us some clothes that haven’t been worn yet due to the pandemic etc.
We will definitely look to start selling on Vinted as I think it’s a great way to get back some of the money spent in buying the items in the first place.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve pinned too.
I have a whole load of stuff that I didn’t want to charity shop but couldn’t be bothered with ebay. I hadn’t even considered Vinted! Might have to take a look and clear some space!
I think it’s much easier to use than eBay, the only downside is Vinted holding your money until the parcel is delivered.
