GreenJinn Review: Using the GreenJinn App

I love saving money on the weekly shop and there are various cashback and coupon apps that help me to do that. This is a GreenJinn review. Greenjinn is an app that provides coupons and cashback for various supermarkets and high street shops.

I’ve been using the GreenJinn app for around four years now I think. While I haven’t used it quite as much as some other supermarket coupon apps, it can be brilliant when there are freebies to had.

GreenJinn Review

In particular, I used the GreenJinn app a lot in the run-up to Christmas 2019 whereby using coupons and vouchers I got around £120 worth of food and drink for £40 (you can read more about it in this post).

How Does GreenJinn Work?

GreenJinn works in a similar way to most of the other cash back apps such as Shopmium and Checkoutsmart. You buy a product, upload your receipt to the app and are then refunded via Paypal, either part or all of the cost of the product.

Greenjinn is completely legit, I have never had any issues getting my money back or had any problems with uploading receipts or receipts being rejected.

Using the GreenJinn App

Download the GreenJinn app and sign up if you’re not already a member and then select the offers you would like to use.

Unlike the other apps, offers are automatically categorized by supermarket, but this can easily be changed to a different supermarket by using the tab at the top of the page.

Does GreenJinn Have Good Freebies?

I have had some amazing freebies from the Greejinn app over the years – here are a few of my favourites.

  • Free Olives x 4 (Worth £3.50 each)
  • Free Chocolate Cake (£2)
  • Free Large Pumpkin (£3)
  • Free Olives x 3 (Small packet 99p)
  • Free Ice Cream (£4.50)

Take a look at the offers and then tap the ones you plan on buying to add them to your cart. Once purchased, take photographs of your receipt via the app, clearly showing the time, date, products and supermarket name. You can take several if you need too.

Once uploaded and processed the cashback will be added to your account. You will then need to request to withdraw this to your Paypal account. You will either be refunded the full amount or a part of the purchase price, depending on the offer. The minimum withdrawal amount is £1.50

Overall GreenJinn Review

I’m going to be honest and say that GreenJinn isn’t my favourite of all the shopping apps available. However, it is worth having as there can be some really good freebies on there.

I especially loved getting all the Ollies olives freebies back in 2019 and they have gradually been increasing the products available and the number of supermarkets they cover too.

That said, there aren’t as many offers as there are on Shopmium and Checkoutsmart and the products do tend to be more obscure and less everyday staples.

GreenJinn has offers for Boots and Holland and Barret which the other apps don’t cover. I like the fact the minimum withdrawal amount is so low and there is no charge for withdrawing your money.

Greenjinn has a focus on healthier products and I find there tend to be a lot of specialist vegan and Gluten-Free products on there too.

Tips For Using The Greenjinn App

Here are a few tips for using the Greenjinn app.

  • Always check the app before you go shopping to see if there are any offers you can take advantage on. Greenjinn typically releases new offers on a Monday Morning.
  • Write down the size and name of products in case you can’t get a signal while shopping to check them while shopping.
  • Make sure you get a receipt, even when using the self-service checkouts.

Are There Other Apps Like GreenJinn?

If you enjoy using the Greenjinn app you may enjoy using these other apps too.

  • Clicksnap – Run Via Quidco with similar but fewer offers to checkoutsmart.
  • Checkoutsmart – read my Checkoutsmart review and user guide for more details.

I hope this Greenjinn review has given you an idea of what the Greenjinn app is all about and has inspired you to give it a try!
