Finding Coupons To Save Money On Groceries

Saving money on the weekly shop is one of my favourite ways to save money. I love challenging myself to see how a little I can spend and how much food I can get for free.

While couponing does take a little bit of time and effort, for me, the monetary rewards are more than worth it. In this post, I am going to look at the best places for finding coupons for your weekly grocery shop.

Coupons and vouchers play a huge part in how I save money on a weekly basis. However, sometimes you do have to know where to look. Finding coupons might actually be easier than you think though, here are where I find coupons to save money on my weekly shop.

1. Online

If you don’t mind printing out your own vouchers, there are lots of places online where you can do this. On occasion, supermarkets can be a little skeptical about accepting these but they should take them without any issue. If a cashier is unsure, it might be worth asking to see a manager.

2. In Your Junk mail

Do not throw junk mail straight in the bin!

You could be throwing away free cash.

While lots of leaflets may just look like a huge list of offers, there is often money off vouchers lurking in their too.

3. In The Post

Since GDPR, companies have to be a lot more careful when it comes to our marketing preferences.

However, while nowadays saying no to all marketing may seem like the go-to option, it could mean missing out on money-saving vouchers.

As a member of Sainsbury’s Nectar card loyalty scheme, I often get vouchers for money off my shop at Sainsbury’s – usually £4 off a £20 shop which isn’t too bad a saving, especially as Sainsbury’s has a good range of homeware and clothing.

While it wouldn’t get me to shop there every week, it is be nice if there is something I particularly want to buy.

4. Free Supermarket Magazines

These can usually be found by the till and are usually out monthly or bi-monthly.

I’m a sucker for picking these up – partly because I’m often too stingy to buy actual magazines and because they do tend to have a great selection of recipes and meal ideas too.

Another thing they often have is money off coupons, usually for new products or flavours that are being launched.

Pick up a few copies for maximum saving potential.

5. Till Spit Out Vouchers

I tend to find I get these mostly in Morrisons and Sainsbury’s and what they are for can vary greatly. Sometimes there will be nothing of interest, other times it’s free products and bonus points galore.

I think these are typically associated with a Nectar or Morrisons More but occasionally they are for everyone.

I’ve had one for a free cup of tea in the Morrisons Cafe before which was nice especially as I managed to avoid being tempted by the cake!

6. Contact Brands Directly

Writing directly to a brand to give feedback can sometimes result in them sending you vouchers or even free products as a thank-you.

However, this is never guaranteed so isn’t something I would dedicate a huge amount of time (or stamps!) to pursuing.

That said, email is free.

Don’t forget, feedback doesn’t have to be positive, as long as you’re polite – brands should respect that you’ve taken the time to get in touch either way.

7. Shopping Apps

Another brilliant way to save on your weekly shopping is using discount coupons from various shopping apps such as Shopmium and Checkoutsmart.

We are mainly Lidl shoppers and usually check the Lidl Plus App before shopping for discount vouchers and freebies

8. Follow Money Bloggers

If you like finding vouchers and coupons, following some money bloggers is a great shout as they are often the first to know about any discounts.
