Vinted is great for finding cheap clothes and lessening fast fashion’s impact on the environment.
In this post, I take a look at some foolproof ways to find cheap clothes on Vinted.
With the cost of living crisis, budgets are being stretched even tighter, and everything, clothes included, seems to be getting more expensive.
While charity shops are great for second-hand bargains, they don’t always have the biggest range or the most up-to-date styles.
The ones in my area also have a lack of decent children’s clothing, although maybe I’m just unlucky with that.
Shopping second-hand is something I am very passionate about.
So, first, let’s take a look at some of the benefits of shopping pre-loved on an app like Vinted:
- Sustainability – buying preloved means fewer clothes going to landfill. This is especially import for clothes containing plastics such as sequins, as they will never bio-degrade.
- Save Money – buying second hand is typically cheaper saving you money.
- Buy Better – buying preloved might mean being able to afford better quality clothing that lasts longer.
- Reduces Fast Fashion Demand – buying second-hand helps to reduce the demand for fast fashion.
- Supports Other Families – Buying from Vinted helps support other families instead of making CEOs richer.
What Is Vinted?
Vinted is a second hand buying and selling app and website, which has seen surge in popularity in recent years.
It works in a similar way to online marketplaces such as eBay, however there is no bidding, the seller sets a price and that’s generally what you pay, although as you’ll see later in the article you can offer a lower price or the seller may offer you a discount.
Overall, Vinted is an easy way to buy and sell second-hand items online.

How To Find Cheap Clothes On Vinted
As someone passionate about slow fashion, finding cheap but lovely clothes on Vinted is one of my favourite things to do.
The majority of my and my children’s clothes are pre-loved as this not only saves money but also means I can afford to buy better, so in theory, the clothes should last longer.
This also means I can pass them on again once we’re done.
I love dressing my little girl in Boden and Joules but I simply cannot afford to pay full price for brand new items from these brands.
Some of my favourite bargains from Vinted so far this year have been a £1 pair of Next Jeans and a French Connection Jumper that had been worn once for £10.
It has an RRP of £80 and was still from this season!
When looking for cheap items on Vinted, don’t forget you’ll need to factor in the cost of shipping and Vinted fees.
The cheapest postage option is currently to have your parcel sent to Inpost lockers at £2.49.
Vinted fees are between 3% and 8% of the item cost plus 0.30 – 0.80p.
On a £1 item, this is usually 38p.
1. Sort By Price
If you want to find the cheapest clothes on Vinted, sorting by price is your friend.
Simply search for an item eg. white t-shirt and use the settings at the top of the screen to show results in price order.
The cheapest items on Vinted start at £1 and you might even get lucky and find bundles of more than one item for this price.
2. Use The Heart Button
Tapping the heart button on Vinted has many benefits, including helping you to find items you love for less.
If you’re searching for a specific item, you may find the price varies wildly.
This could be due to condition, for example, brand new vs well-worn, but often it’s just sellers pricing differently.
Adding several of the same items to your favourite list using the heart button allows you to compare which listing offers the best combination of price and condition.
Additionally, when you tap the heart button, the seller gets a notification and may either lower the price of the item for everyone or send you a personalised offer, which you can either accept or counteroffer.
3. Finding Cheap Clothes On Vinted: Search For Bundles
Photographing and listing items one at a time can be pretty time-consuming, so many sellers on Vinted will list several items in one large bundle, especially when it comes to children’s clothing.
Large bundles usually work out cheaper than buying all of the items individually, plus you only have one set of Vinted fees and postage pay.
While shipping fees might be higher for an especially large bundle, usually the overall savings you’re making outweigh this small extra cost.

4. Shop Several Items From The Same Seller
When shopping on Vinted, I always take a look at the seller’s other items to see if there are other items I’d also like to purchase and this can be a great way to get cheap items.
As an example, paying £1 for a T-shirt should be a bargain. But add on fees and postage and you’re looking at between £4-5.
If you buy five £1 items from the same seller, you’ll pay around £10 as although fees and postage may increase slightly, it still works out much cheaper than five separate transactions.
Additionally, many sellers of a discount the more items you buy from them which can often be as much as 40% for five or more items.
5. Make An Offer
Vinted allows sellers to make offers on items – so if something is a bit out of your price range, you can offer a price you are happier with.
The seller can then either accept, decline or get back to you with a counteroffer.
I personally only tend to use this for higher-priced items if I’m buying a big bundle of cheap children’s clothing, I know that I’m already getting a bargain.
However, my husband recently had a lot of success doing this when buying some like new condition trainers an offer of £22 was accepted on a £30 item.
When sellers are new to Vinted, sometimes they are offered free postage to help them get started. Look out for these offers where postage is free as you could save quite a bit.
6. Look Out For Free Postage
When someone starts selling on Vinted for the first time, Vinted covers the cost of shipping to encourage sales.
If you find an item with free shipping, this does reduce the overall cost by quite a bit, especially if it is only a couple of pounds to begin with.
I find items with free shipping tend to get snapped up very quickly, so if you find something you want, it’s worth purchasing straight away as it might not be there if you favourite it and come back later.
7. Use The ‘Similar Items’ Tab
If you’ve found an item you love but think the price is a bit steep, using the similar items tab could help you to find the exact same item for less.
When looking at a seller’s other items, the ‘similar items’ tab is on the right-hand side, as pictured below.
While you might not always get the same items, I do find this helps to bring up items that weren’t showing under my original search terms, as people often use different phrases and terms to describe what they are selling.
