There are lots of good reasons to get groceries delivered – it saves time, you’re less inclined to buy food you don’t need and you can easily see how much you’ve spent as you go along.

However, it can also be easy to miss out on special offers and yellow sticker bargains.

Here are my grocery delivery hacks to help you save cash.

9 Grocery Delivery Hacks To Save Money

1. Link Up Your Loyalty Card/Apps

Before you start shopping, make sure you’ve linked your loyalty card to ensure you get all offers.

Both Sainsbury’s and Tesco have discounts that only apply to Nectar or Clubcard holders and with Asda, you get money back in your ‘pot’ which can be taken off your next shop.

2. Take Advantage Of New Customer Offers

If you’re shopping online for the first time, you might be able to take advantage of new customer offers.

For example, new shoppers at Ocado currently get 25% off their first £60 shop.

While Ocado might be slightly more expensive than other supermarkets, taking advantage of special offers and shopping their value range could mean you still see decent savings.

3. Find The Cheapest Items Easily

One of the best things about shopping online is that you can easily find the cheapest items, simply by toggling the price range to show ‘low to high’.

The only drawback is you may need to do this for each new item you add.

However, once done you should be able to save your shopping trolley ready to use next time you shop.

4. Take Advantage Of Offers Through Food Delivery Apps

Apps that offer grocery delivery such as Uber Eats and Deliveroo often have special offers, such as £15 off a £25.

Now, while this might seem like a fantastic offer, prices are often quite a bit more than they’d be in-store plus there are fees and the cost of delivery to consider.

However, this can be a good deal if you purchase special offers or meal deals, you’ll just need to do some research against regular prices before ordering to make sure it’s worth it.

5. Pay For A Delivery Pass

If you’re a regular online grocery shopper, investing in a grocery pass for the year might be worth it.

For example, Asda’s delivery pass costs £40 for midweek deliveries and could save you as much as £190 over the year if you order weekly.

6. Pick A Late Delivery Slot

If you don’t want to commit to a delivery pass, picking a late slot for your delivery could save you cash.

These slots are less popular and therefore often cheaper, meaning you could get your shopping delivered for as little as £1.

7. Look Out For Freebies

From time to time, some online grocery retailers offer freebies that you can add to your trolley at no extra charge.

8. Combine With Cashback

Cashback offers can vary throughout the year but if you’re shopping online it’s always worth checking places like TopCashback and Quidco to see if you can earn any money back on your shopping.

Additionally, you might find your bank account offers cashback on supermarket shopping – I’m with Monzo and they do on occasion but you need to opt in.

9. Get Free Products Through Shopping Apps Like CheckoutSmart

Who doesn’t love some free food? One of the easiest ways to bag yourself some foodie freebies is by using shopping apps such as CheckoutSmart and Shopmium where you can often get a full or partial refund on the shopping you buy.

Some offers are available on your online shop as well as in-store, to it’s always worth checking if there are any freebies worth adding to your basket that you can get a refund on later.
