Heading off on a Haven holiday soon? You could get money refunded if the price of your break has dropped with the Haven Price Promise.
When it comes to saving money on a holiday, there are plenty of little tricks that can help bring the cost down. Booking off-peak, using discount codes and earning cashback can all make a huge difference.
In fact, when we went to Disney World in Florida, and I managed to get over £120 back in cashback through TopCashback.
If you’ve got a Haven holiday booked in the UK, this tip is definitely worth knowing about.
Haven has something called the Haven Price Promise and it could mean getting money refunded back to you before you even arrive.
What Is The Haven Price Promise?
The Haven Price Promise means that if the cost of your holiday drops after you book, but before your arrival date, Haven will refund you the difference.
It doesn’t matter whether the difference is huge or tiny. If your exact break is now cheaper, you can claim the money back.

I recently helped my parents check theirs, and they ended up getting a £10 refund. It’s not life-changing money, but it paid for a couple of treats while they were away, and the whole process only took a few minutes.
Why Does Haven Offer A Price Promise?
It’s incredibly frustrating finding out somebody else paid less than you for exactly the same holiday.
Holiday parks constantly adjust prices depending on demand, availability and how many breaks they still need to sell.
The Haven Price Promise is basically there to reassure their customers that if prices change after booking, they won’t lose out.
It also probably saves them from dealing with lots of cancellations and complaints from annoyed customers.
The Haven Price Promise is calculated on the base price of your holiday and doesn’t include extras such as the cost of choosing your van location or hiring items such as towels.
Why Might Your Haven Holiday Be Cheaper?
There are a few reasons why your break might have dropped in price.
Sometimes holiday parks simply haven’t sold as many bookings as they hoped, so they lower prices to fill empty accommodation.
You’re more likely to spot price drops if:
- You booked quite far in advance
- Your holiday is during an off-peak period
- Demand for your dates is lower than Haven expected
Of course, there’s absolutely no guarantee your holiday will be cheaper. If you booked during school holidays or a peak summer week, chances are prices may have stayed the same or, more likely, have gone up.
Still, considering it only takes a few minutes to check, I personally think it’s always worth trying.
How To Use The Haven Price Promise
The whole process is done through Haven’s chatbot, which means there’s no need to call anyone.
As a millennial who hates making phone calls, that’s a win for me.
Before you start, you’ll need:
- Your booking reference number
- The lead booker’s name
- The email address linked to the booking
The refund will always go back to the original payment method used by the lead booker.
Step 1: Go To The Haven Website
Head to the Haven website and open the chat feature. On mobile, the chat icon was in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen when I checked.
Step 2: Type in “Price Promise”
Once the chatbot opens, select “New and Existing Bookings” and then type “Price Promise” and press enter.
The bot will then ask a few questions and request your booking details.
I actually completed this for my parents using the information they sent me and had no issues doing it on their behalf.
Step 3: Confirm Your Booking
The chatbot should retrieve your holiday details and ask you to confirm the booking and dates are correct.
Once confirmed, it automatically compares your booking price against the current price.
Step 4: Claim Your Refund
If your holiday is now cheaper, the chatbot will tell you how much you’re owed and ask whether you’d like the refund processed.
You simply say yes, and that’s it.
This process can be repeated as many times as you like up until the day your holiday starts. If the price has dropped again, you can claim another refund.
Can You Check The Price Yourself First?
Yes, you can.
If you want to double-check things before going through the chatbot, you can search for your exact holiday manually on the Haven website.
Make sure you match:
- The same park
- The same dates
- The same accommodation type
- The same number of guests
That should give you a rough idea of whether your break has dropped in price before you start the refund process.
If the chatbot says your break isn’t cheaper, it may still ask whether you’ve found a different price elsewhere and want to discuss it further. I didn’t need to use that option myself, so I’m not entirely sure what happens after that.
Why Isn’t My Haven Break Cheaper?
If you check and discover your holiday hasn’t gone down in price, there are plenty of possible reasons.
It could simply mean:
- You already booked at a really good price
- Your holiday dates are in high demand
- Your Haven break falls during school holidays or peak season
- Your accommodation type is selling well
It’s can be disappointing not getting any money back on your booking, but there’s no downside to checking.
Worst case scenario, you spend five minutes confirming you already got a good deal.
Important Things To Know
The Haven Price Promise only applies to holidays booked directly through Haven.
It doesn’t apply to:
- Third-party bookings
- Private owner bookings on Haven sites
So if you booked elsewhere, unfortunately, you probably won’t be eligible.
Is The Haven Price Promise Worth Checking?
Absolutely.
I really like how quick and straightforward the whole process is. Everything is automated, there’s no need to sit on hold, and you don’t have to explain yourself to a customer service adviser.
Sometimes you might only get a few pounds back, but sometimes it could be a much larger amount.
Either way, if you’ve already got a Haven holiday booked, you may as well check.
At best, it could cover part of your spending money, a takeaway on site or a couple of portions of fish and chips by the seaside.
