Looking to make further savings at Lidl? Here’s everything you need to know about yellow sticker shopping at Lidl.

Best Reduction Times At Lidl

Technically, this should probably be called orange and green sticker shopping rather than yellow sticker shopping, because that’s what you’ll usually find in Lidl.

Lidl tends to use:

  • Orange stickers for percentage reductions throughout the store and in dedicated reduction areas.
  • Green stickers for heavily reduced fixed-price items, usually in the dedicated reduced section

Lidl Reduction Times

Best time: From around 3pm onwards

Lidl usually starts with smaller reductions of around 30% during the day, with bigger reductions appearing later in the afternoon and evening.

That said, it can be a bit unpredictable.

Recently I found loads of orange 50% off stickers on things like ready meals, dips and sausage rolls at around 10am on a Saturday morning, which definitely isn’t the “normal” reduction time.

This is very much one of those supermarkets where timings can vary massively depending on the store, stock levels and how quickly things are selling.

Where To Find Lidl Reductions

Most Lidl stores seem to have:

  • A ready-to-eat reduced section
  • A separate reduced meat section
  • Orange sticker reductions are still left on shelves around the store

Fruit and veg reductions in my local Lidl don’t seem to have a dedicated section at all.

Instead, reduced produce is usually mixed in with the full-price items on the shelves, so you do need to keep your eyes peeled a bit more.

Lidl Reductions On Non-Perishable Foods

You can also find reductions on non-perishable foods in Lidl, particularly items from their themed weekly specials.

These are often dotted around the store or shoved into random baskets in the middle aisle, which feels very on-brand for Lidl, to be honest.

I’ve found some really good bargains this way, especially once themed weeks are ending and they’re trying to clear stock quickly.

Lidl Cheap Fruit & Veg Boxes

Lidl also sells bargain fruit and veg boxes filled with up to 5kg of short-dated produce.

These used to cost £1.50 but have recently increased to £2. I still think they can be excellent value depending on what’s inside.

Admittedly, sometimes the contents do look a little bit ropey, but once cooked, a lot of it is absolutely fine.

The mix can also be completely random. Some days the box is basically 90% bananas or potatoes, other times you’ll end up with everything from pineapples to parsnips.

The boxes are usually kept near the tills rather than out on the shop floor.

I understand why Lidl does this, as otherwise people would probably start adding extra fruit and veg as they went around the store, but it can be a bit frustrating if you only spot the boxes at the end after already grabbing the fruit and veg you need.

As with most reductions, availability is limited, and they do tend to sell out quickly.

While not your typical yellow sticker reduction, Lidl does offer heavily discounted veg and Christmas and Easter, which is worth looking out for.

Lidl Bakery Reductions

Until recently, Lidl also offered a blanket 30% discount on bakery items during set evening hours, usually between around 7pm and 10pm for customers using the Lidl Plus app.

Sadly this no longer seems to be a thing following the latest app update (which was quite franky, terrible).

Lidl Reductions & The Lidl Plus App

While we’re on the subject of the Lidl Plus app, it’s worth noting that yellow sticker-style reductions (for short date) aren’t linked to the app.

Most in-store markdowns happen regardless and can be bought without using Lidl Plus at all.

These are separate from app-based offers, such as 15% off specific items, which are a different type of discount altogether.

How Lidl discounts (don’t) stack

  • Yellow/orange/green sticker reductions (in-store markdowns) = already reduced price
  • Lidl Plus % off coupons (like 15% off) = applied separately and usually only on full-price eligible items

What usually happens:

If an item is already reduced (e.g. £1 → 50p):

  • Lidl will normally NOT apply the % coupon on top of the reduced price
  • The system typically treats reduced items as not eligible for further coupon discounts
