Review: EcoPanda Make-Up Remover Pads

In recent months I’ve been trying really hard to be a bit more environmentally friendly. We’ve bee cutting our food waste as far we can and we’ve switched to a more eco-friendly energy supplier. While these are very small changes, I do believe that if everyone takes a few small steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle, we can make a big difference.
I was recently offered the chance to review some EcoPanda make-up remover pads and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take another step on my path to living a more sustainable life. And of course, being more Eco-Friendly often goes hand in hand with saving money too.
Review: EcoPanda Make-Up Remover Pads
EcoPanda has very kindly sent me a set of their Make-Up remover pads to try out. I would usually use wipes or cotton wool pads – neither of which are particularly environmentally friendly so I was excited to try something a bit more sustainable.

What’s Included: EcoPanda Make-Up Remover Pads
Each Set of makeup remover pads includes the following:
- 18 100% bamboo cotton pads – these are hypoallergenic and chemical-free meaning they should be suitable for even sensitive skin.
- Bamboo Storage Pot – The storage pot is lovely and perfect if you need to pack pads for travelling.
- Wash Bag – for washing the make-up remover pads. Washing in the bag will help prevent the pads from fraying or getting damaged in the wash.
Using the Make-Up Pads
To use the make-up pads I ran them under a little bit of warm water and then used them to clean my face. They were quite soft and it wasn’t too difficult to get the majority of the makeup from my face. I did end up using two pads and they were quite soiled afterwards. I immediately rinsed them under some warm water as advised by EcoPanda and then popped them in the wash bag provided.
Washing the EcoPanda Make-Up Pads
I washed the pads with my normal washing in the little wash bag provided, minus conditioner as advised by the brand. I washed at 40 degrees although they can be washed at temperatures of up to 60 degrees, however, I don’t tend to wash this hot. It is not advised that the pads are tumble dried, but as they are so light I found they dried really quickly anyway.
The pads did come out with some make-up residue on and didn’t remain completely white. I’m fairly relaxed so I don’t think using them again with stains on would bother me, however, I do think it would be an issue for some people. You could soak them in white vinegar and soap or vanish before washing but this does add yet another step to the whole process and isn’t perhaps something most people would want to do daily.
While it wasn’t a problem for me, EcoPanda had mentioned that water-proof mascara can be particularly tricky to wash out of the pads.
The Verdict
I actually really liked this product and for someone who doesn’t wear that much make-up and doesn’t wear it every day, I feel like this is a perfect Eco-friendly swap.
I think if you’re someone that wears a lot of make-up and would need several pads each day, the extra steps of cleaning the pads, soaking, and then washing and drying coupled with the fact that they don’t always come out completely clean might frustrate some people and deter them from continuing to use the product, which is a shame.
I do think there are sacrifices to be made when trying to be more eco-friendly and in this case, it’s the added time to clean the product which essentially removes any convenience factor – meaning I think a lot of people would be tempted to stick to wipes or cotton pads, simply for ease of use. However, that doesn’t mean the product is bad; it’s a great product if you want to choose products that are more sustainable – just be prepared for the extra cleaning!
