Buying M&S Yellow Sticker Christmas Food is a fab way to still grab those luxury items without the high price tag. Here’s a look at what I found.

Earlier this week I popped into my local M&S to grab a ready meal curry for my tea as my husband was eating out with his skittle team and didn’t want to cook just for me. Not the thriftiest, but cheaper than takeaway!

Anyway, I intended to buy one thing and ended up spending quite a bit on yellow sticker Christmas food. Lots of buffet food like mozzarella sticks and duck croquettes but I also got some delicious looking cheesecakes too!

Some things will be put away for Christmas, other things will be used next week when my friends are coming over for a games night.

So, here is what I bought and how much I saved.

Mediterranean Veg Flatbread £2.75 £1.54
Salt & Pepper Chicken £2.65 £1.59

I love M&S food and it does feel nice to have some extra special bits in to eat over the Christmas period. However, a lot of the RRP’s just seem crazy to me – over £3 for 8 mozzarella sticks is mad!

Buying lots of yellow sticker items means we can still have yummy M&S treats without spending too much money.

What Are The Best Times For Yellow Stickers At M&S?

I purchased most of my yellow sticker items at around 4.30 pm. If you’re looking to stock up on Christmas party food as I did, mid-week in November is a great time for this.

The Christmas food ranges have been released so M&S should have stock, but not that many people are buying it yet so more ends up getting reduced and placed in the yellow sticker section or around the shelves.

I’d say you’d be much less likely to get these types of bargains in the two weeks before Christmas as they are far more popular then and would likely sell out before needing to be reduced.

The lull between Christmas and New Year is the perfect time to grab some yellow sticker bargains. Most people have bought enough food to cover this period and don’t go shopping but of course, the shops still have to have stock food.

Some of my best ever yellow sticker bargains have come from this period including scallops and king prawns down to 5p.

Lots of people also like to go yellow sticker hunting on Christmas Eve (since the supermarkets are about to shut for two days) but I find there are enough last-minute shoppers there isn’t usually very much left.

M&S Reduction Times

M&S Food reductions can be found throughout the day although these tend to only be around 20-30% of the full price.

Final reductions are usually added an hour or two before closing (although my bargains above a were a bit before this so it does vary from store to store) most M&S Food Halls close at either 8pm or 9 pm so look from 7 pm onwards for the best bargains and check your local store times before shopping to make sure you don’t miss out!

Is It Safe To Eat Yellow Sticker Food?

Technically yellow sticker should be eaten on the day that it’s bought.

However, I personally believe that use-by dates cause a lot of unnecessary food waste, especially as a lot of people stick to them very stringently.

Yes, they are there for food safety but food doesn’t suddenly become toxic at 12.01 on its use-by date and many foods are fine to eat a day or two past this. You can learn the difference between use by and best before here.

If you are worried, you can cook or freeze yellow sticker foods on the day of purchase. Everything I bought was freezable except for the Duck Croquettes.
