If you’re looking for thrifty ways to bring some extra festive magic into your house this year, I have all the details on how to get a free letter from Father Christmas for your children.
One thing lots of Children like to do in the run-up to Christmas is send a letter to Father Christmas (or Santa depending on what you call him in your household).
Each year the Royal Mail runs a scheme where your child will receive a free letter from Father Christmas in reply. The only cost is a stamp – the cheapest option being second class at 66p per letter.

If your child has a visual impairment then you can request a letter from Santa in their preferred format from the RNIB.
The posting date for this year has now passed so I’ve edited the details but you can still request a letter by email using the details found on this page.
When Do I Need To Send My Letter By?
The last posting date for letters to guarantee a letter back is Friday 10th December 2021. If you can try to write and send your letters as early as possible to allow Santa plenty of time to get back to your child.
While Royal Mail does try to get back to everyone there of course may be the odd occasion where things go wrong and letters are lost in the post etc.
Also, remember that during the Pandemic and Christmas Royal Mail is exceptionally busy so it might take a few weeks to receive your reply.
To avoid any disappointment, I wouldn’t mention that Father Christmas will reply and just keep that as a lovely surprise for when it does.

What Do I Need To Include To Get My Free Letter From Father Christmas?
For Santa to be able to write back to your child, you’ll need to include their full name and address with their letter. My little girl wrote her letter and then I popped it inside a Christmas card with all of her details.
We’ve not had anything back yet but I’ll update this post with details and images when we do. We’ve done this several times before and I was sure I had images, but alas, I cannot find them!

If you have an Alexa device, you can ask her how many days until Christmas. She will tell you a positive message from Father Christmas which changes each day.
We’ve also been watching Santa Cam on Youtube, a live stream from the North Pole. It flits between different areas of Santa’s house and outside where we get to see lots of cute animals enjoying the snow as well as Santa and the elves prepping for Christmas!
