Wondering what to do with leftover bread crusts? Look no further than these Cinnamon French Toast Bites.
They’re super easy to make and even better they use up bread crusts to help save them from being wasted.
One thing I’m really passionate is reducing food waste and bread is often one of the biggest contributors to food ending up in landfill.
Close to one million loaves of bread get wasted every day in the UK alone.
I’ve previously shared lots of recipes that can help to use up bread that is slightly stale or that is past it’s best.

Cinnamon French Toast Bites
This recipe focuses on an often thrown-away part of the bread; the crusts.
Now, I know lots of children don’t like to eat their crusts so this is the perfect way for Mum or Dad to use them up in the form of a tasty weekend breakfast.
Why I Love This Cinnamon French Toast Bites Recipe
There are so many things to love about this cinnamon french toast bites recipe.
Firstly, it uses up bread crusts which might otherwise end up in the bin. You could also cut up and use the crust end of a load if you wanted to.
This recipe is quick and easy to make and uses mostly stored cupboard ingredients which I think that most people would already have in.
The ingredients below make a portion for one person but can be easily doubled or tripled as needed.
This is also one of those recipes where you can’t go too far wrong, so don’t worry if you don’t have the exact amounts, especially if you’re increasing the recipe to accommodate more people.
You could also add more cinnamon if you prefer a more cinnamony french toast or you could add some extra icing sugar if you prefer a sweeter finish.

How To Serve Cinnamon French Toast Bites
I like to serve these cinnamon french toast bites with a drizzle of my chocolate and Nutella dipping sauce, for which you can find the recipe here.
It’s very easy, I used around a tablespoon of Nutella which I heated through with a splash of milk.
I also added some strawberries as I think they make a great fruit accompaniment to any breakfast.
How To Make Cinnamon French Toast Bites

Cinnamon French Toast Bites Recipe
Ingredients
- Bread Crusts I used the crusts from two slices of bread
- 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp Icing Sugar
- Small knob of butter
- Splash of Milk
- 1 Egg
- Strawberries to serve
Chocolate Sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp Nutella
- Splash of Milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and cinnamon.
- Cut the bread crusts into small rectangles (squares make the bites a bit on the small side) and add to the egg mixture. Gently move the bread crusts around so they soak up the egg.
- Melt the knob of butter in a frying pan on a low heat, making sure the butter doesn't start to colour or burn.
- Using tongs or a slotted spoon, transfer the egg soaked bread crust pieces over to the pan and cook on each side for around 2 minutes, until golden. Keep the heat low as these burn quite easily.
- Once cooked, place the french toast bites onto a piece of kitchen roll to absorb any excess fat.
- Pop the bites onto a plate and dust with the icing sugar and the strawberries. Serve while still hot.
