Cinnamon French Toast Bites Recipe
How delicious do these cinnamon french toast bites look? They're super easy to make and even better they use up bread crusts to help save them from being wasted.
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 5 minutes mins
- Bread Crusts I used the crusts from two slices of bread
- 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp Icing Sugar
- Small knob of butter
- Splash of Milk
- 1 Egg
- Strawberries to serve
Chocolate Sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp Nutella
- Splash of Milk
In a bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and cinnamon.
Cut the bread crusts into small rectangles (squares make the bites a bit on the small side) and add to the egg mixture. Gently move the bread crusts around so they soak up the egg.
Melt the knob of butter in a frying pan on a low heat, making sure the butter doesn't start to colour or burn.
Using tongs or a slotted spoon, transfer the egg soaked bread crust pieces over to the pan and cook on each side for around 2 minutes, until golden. Keep the heat low as these burn quite easily.
Once cooked, place the french toast bites onto a piece of kitchen roll to absorb any excess fat.
Pop the bites onto a plate and dust with the icing sugar and the strawberries. Serve while still hot.
To make the chocolate sauce, simply mix the milk and Nutella together over low heat in a small pan until thick and glossy. Full recipe here. You can make this while the cinnamon french toast bites are cooking or it's so quick to make it could be made afterwards instead.
