Using Cashback websites is one of the easiest ways to get money for free as you earn cashback on items you were going to buy anyway. Most cashback websites also offer cash just for signing up to free trials of things likes Amazon Prime and Audible – just remember to cancel before the free trial ends or you’ll be charged.
How To Make Money With Cashback Websites
I love earning cashback on my purchases online. It’s a quick, easy and free way to make money and so far I’ve earned over £1000 across a few cashback sites.
To earn cashback you simply sign up to the cashback site, search for the retailer you want to shop with (the two main cashback sites cover most of the main UK retailers) and click through.
The cashback site will redirect you to the retailer and you just shop as you usually would, earning a small (or sometimes large!) amount of cashback.
While cashback is a great way to earn money while shopping online there are a few things to be aware of.
Firstly cashback is never guaranteed so never purchase based on this alone. Most cashback websites are able to track any transactions that haven’t shown up in your account, but occasionally the retailer may decide not to payout and the cashback sites can’t always give a good reason as to why.
It can take a while to get your cashback. I usually find it’s between three and six months before the cashback is available to withdraw, but if you shop online a lot, you’ll probably find that after a while you’ve got cashback ready to cash out quite often.
How Do Cashback Sites Make Money?
Most cashback sites make a commission when you shop through them and then they pass some of that commission on to you.
The retailer benefits because if there is a choice of two sites with the exact same products, you’re more likely to choose the one you can get cashback from. Prices don’t change when you click through from a cashback site so the price you pay shouldn’t be any different than if you’d gone to the website directly.

How To Make Money With TopCashback
TopCashback is the cashback website I use the most and so far I’ve managed to earn over £800, simply shopping as I usually would.
Cashback sites are really easy to use once you’ve signed up. Just go to the cashback site, type in the retailer you’d like to buy from and click the link.
A message usually pops up to let you know that your visit has been recorded.
Cashback can be especially lucrative when making large purchases such as a holiday. We earned over £100 on our Disneyworld holiday back in 2017 – even though we were already getting lots of great offers such as free Disney Dining and a $200 gift card.
Even the smallest earnings can start to add up – just this week I earned £3.50 back on a pushchair I’d planned to buy anyway and which already had £50 off in the sale, so it was a win-win.
While £3.50 might not seem like very much it would buy a pack of nappies or sometimes I save up my cashback earnings throughout the year to use at Christmas.

TopCashback offers both paid and free membership options.
Which of these is suitable will depend on how much you shop online.
Annual membership costs £5 and is taken out of any cashback earned and benefits include increased cashback rates at the majority of stores.
If you shop online frequently it’s most likely to be worth it for the extra earning potential. As I tend to shop second-hand most of the time, I found it wasn’t worth it for me personally so I am currently only using the free plan.
Topcash back often runs special offers for a bonus if you shop with them. For example, recently there was a £2.50 bonus for spending £10 or more through one of their retailers. This is a great way to make extra cashback if you were planning on buying something anyway.
They also run TopCashback Sweet Treats a few times each year where you can earn various amounts of cashback by finding hummingbirds hidden around the site. Find three of the same sweets and you could win anything from 10p to £100. Clues to which retailers are involved can be found across Topcashback’s social media channels.
How To Make Money With Quidco
Quidco is another great cashback site that offers money back on your purchases. Thus far I’ve made over £200 with them. I do prefer Topcashback if I’m being honest as they are easier to use and cashback rates tend to be better.
However, it’s often worth checking out more than one cashback website before you make a purchase as rates can vary quite a bit, as can the different retailers that are available.
So if the online shop or retailer you’re looking for isn’t on Topcashback then it may well be on Quidco and vice versa.
Quidco Refer A Friend
Quidco offers a refer-a-friend scheme where you can earn £10 for each friend or family member who signs up and earns £5 in cashback.

How To Make Money With The Cheddar Cashback App
Cheddar is one of the newer cashback sites on the block and is actually accessed via app rather than a website.
You do need to link up your bank account with open banking, but unlike Topcashback and Quidco you don’t need to go through their app to earn cashback – if you shop at one of Cheddar’s cashback retailers, everything happens automatically.
You’ll also earn cashback on both online and in-store purchases which is a bonus and you can double up on cashback – so if you shop at Sports Direct for example, you can earn cashback from BOTH Topcashback and Cheddar.
How To Get The Most Out Of Cashback Websites
Another great way to earn money through cashback sites is to take a look at the different offers for various gambling and bingo websites.
Often the cashback amount for these is higher than the amount that you need to deposit to play. So you’re making a profit right away, you’ll just need to wait a few weeks to get the money back, although in my experience these types of offers do payout pretty quickly.
You also get to keep any winnings you might make on the gaming site so it can be quite a lucrative way to make a few extra pennies. Just make sure you don’t add any more money to bingo or gambling site as you’ll then be losing money.
This is not advisable if you have had any sort of gambling issues in the past though. Always be Gambling Aware.
Cashback Refer A Friend Schemes
Most cashback sites have refer-a-friend schemes which can use once you’re signed. Referral rates can range from £5 – £30 and usually, your friend will need to sign up and make a purchase through the cashback site within a certain period of time.
Sometimes cashback sites will offer extra incentives such as £10 extra cashback for the person you are referring as well as your own referral fee.
Can I Use Cashback And Discount Codes together?
When using a cashback website, be sure to check the terms for each individual retailer. Often, cashback will be invalid if you use a discount voucher not listed on the cashback site or are paying with a gift card.
It’s always worth doing a quick Google search to see if there are any voucher codes about – if you can and they offer 10% or more it’s likely they will save you more money than you would have earned from the cashback.
