So, today I’m going to talk about how to uplift your garden fence on a budget. There are many ways to give a new lease of life to an old fence, here are some of my favourite ways:
Make it strong.
Nobody wants a flimsy garden fence. Garden fences should be strong, stable and long-lasting. How to make them stronger? Install a garden fence post on the wooden posts of your garden fence. Make it stand out.
As Pretty Big Butterflies says in a recent blog post, “Wooden garden fences don’t have to stay brown. Grab your paintbrush and your favourite colour of paint and give it a new coat of paint.” The easiest way to visually improve your garden fence and make it stand out is by giving it a new lick of paint. Go for a contemporary feel with a white picket fence or a more modern vibe with a dark coloured fence.
Make it shine.
If you don’t want to paint your wooden fence but still want to make it look as good as possible, why not stain it? A garden fence will look refreshed in no time with a lovely wooden stain. As A July Dreamer comments, “Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of shine to make old furniture, or in this case, garden fences look brand-new once again.”
Make it multi-functional.
Rachel Bustin shared some ideas on how to make garden fences multifunctional, mentioning how you could create “a vertical herb garden by hanging plant pots around your fence” or “use part of your garden fence as a vertical storage solution for some garden utensils.” I think these are great ideas and would make any garden fence that bit more versatile!
