How To Get Cheap and Free Hotel Chocolat

I love Hotel Chocolat, but being a luxury brand, it’s definitely something that is an occasional treat. Here are some ways that you can get free and cheap Hotel Chocolat products and enjoy some luxury choccies for less.

1. Join The Hotel Chocolat VIP Club For Free Hotel Chocolat Products and Exclusive Discounts

Everyone loves a freebie and joining the Hotel Chocolat Vip Club is a great way to get a free Hotel Chocolat treat on your birthday each year.

There are also other benefits such as Hotel Chocolat discount codes, 20% off hot drinks and ices at participating stores and around £30 off if you want to purchase a Hotel Chocolate Velvetizer.

2. Look Out For Short Dated Products

Being a luxury retailer, Hotel Chocolat doesn’t do yellow stickers – it’s actually silver stickers you need to look out for. I find it’s worth popping in towards the end of the month to find the best deals on short-dated products and as these are ‘best before’ rather than ‘use by’ they can be safely eaten after this date.

Discounts on short-dated products range from 30% off to 70% off and these can be found in among the usual products or next to the tills.

Before Christmas, we found some miniature liqueur gift sets reduced to 50% off and the shop assistant explained that only one of the bottles out of the three was short-dated, the other two had dates well into 2023. Didn’t worry us as we planned to drink them over Christmas anyway, but was still good to know!

3. Discounted Hotel Chocolat: ‘Ugly But Good’

This is something I’ve spotted more recently on chocolates that are ever so slightly damaged, rather than short-dated.

The ones we bought are pictured below and honestly, I couldn’t see anything wrong with them other than a tiny bit of broken biscuit which I wouldn’t have noticed unless really looking for faults.

They tasted absolutely fine and I was happy with my bargains half prices chocolates!

4. Hotel Chocolat Discounts: Shop The Sales

There are three times of year that should bag you the best Hotel Chocolat bargains.

  • Post Christmas Sales – Boxing Day onwards
  • After Easter Bank Holiday Weekend
  • Autumn (after Halloween)

Now you are probably thinking these all sound like times of the year when the last thing you want is to buy more chocolate.

But there are big savings to be made and if you don’t mind eating Santa-shaped chocolates in March, many of the products should have several months shelf life.

Sales discounts can vary. As we are currently in the post-Christmas time period I took a look at the Hotel Chocolat website and the discounts vary between 10% off and 50% off with a few non-edible beauty products at 70% off.

In the past, I’ve also bought Hotel Chocolat Mystery Boxes which have a range of products in that are either short-dated or end of line. These are usually around 50% off the usual retail price but of course, there’s no guarantee you’ll get something you love and they aren’t available all year round.

Still, worth looking out for if you like discounted Hotel Chocolat!

Don’t forget other stores also stock Hotel Chocolat including John Lewis and Very and you can buy Hotel Chocolat Liqueurs and Mini Liqueur Gift Sets in supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.

5. Always Check For Hotel Chocolat Cashback & Discount Codes

If you’re shopping for Hotel Chocolat online it’s worth checking to see whether they are on any cashback sites.

At the time of writing Hotel Chocolat was on Top Cashback with a cashback rate of 2.55%. While this isn’t a huge amount, if you shop online a lot the cashback can quickly start to add up.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t combine cashback with discount codes and personally I find these tend to provide a better discount and as you get the money off immediately there’s no waiting around for your money back.

If you have a blue light card then Hotel Chocolat does sometimes partner with them so worth checking the app before making a purchase.

6. Hotel Chocolat Outlet Stores

I feel really lucky that we have a Hotel Chocolat Outlet store reasonably close to us at Clarks Village, which is in Street, Somerset. There are a few others dotted around the country including ones in Bridge End and Cheshire Oaks.

These outlet stores offer a range of discounts and are a great way to shop Hotel Chocolat products at very reduced prices although it can be hit and miss how good the discounts are.

As you can see below I once got five selector bars for just under £6 when the retail price is usually closer to £20.

Recipt with details of five products at 70% off discounted from £3.95 to £1.18. The total is £5.90

I’d also recommend visiting after Easter or Christmas as these Hotel Chocolat Outlet stores do seem to have bigger discounts than some of the regular stores on their seasonal stock.

7. Double Check Hotel Chocolat Offers Are Legitimate

If you’re searching online for good offers on Hotel Chocolat, it’s worth checking that those offers are legitimate and you really are getting cheap Hotel Chocolat goodies.

A prime example of a not-very-good offer comes from just before Christmas this year when Very was claiming that some Hotel Chocolat Christmas Crackers had a £46 discount, which in theory sounds like a great offer.

Expect, it was a massive con as the discounted price was in fact more than Hotel Chocolat was selling them for directly, with no discount applied.

If you’re buying discounted Hotel Chocolat products through one of their partner retailers such as John Lewis, Very or Sainsbury’s, always check prices directly for reference before buying.

8. Win Hotel Chocolat Goodies

I’ve written quite a bit about how much I love entering competitions and Hotel Chocolat hampers often feature as prizes, especially in the run-up to both Christmas and Easter.

Most of the competitions I see featuring these as prizes are on Twitter or Facebook but you could also search on Google or use one of the online competition databases such as MSE or Loquax.

9. Other Ways To Get Free Hotel Chocolat Products

In the past, there have been Hotel Chocolat Freebies on both the o2 Priority app and the Vodafone Very Me rewards app, including free Christmas Products and free hot drinks.

While I’ve not seen any of these free Hotel Chocolat offers for a while, it’s always worth keeping an eye out for if you have either of these apps.

10. Hotel Chocolat Factory Shop Outlet

Finally, I wanted to mention the Hotel Chocolat Factory shop, which is located right next to the Hotel Chocolat factory in Huntingdon.

Similarly to the other outlet stores, the shop offers discounts on Hotel Chocolat products as well as some exclusive discounts and is open from 9.30 until 17.00 every day except for Sundays.

I love Hotel Chocolat and while it is a treat, I do love to try and get a discount if I can! I hope these tips help you to find some discounted, cheap and even Free Hotel Chocolat products.
