Each year, it seems as though Halloween is becoming a bigger and bigger event here in the U.K. A close friend of mine works in a supermarket and she told me it’s actually the third biggest sales time of the year for them, after Easter and Christmas. If you’re expecting hoards of trick or treaters or having a Halloween party, here are the cheapest places to stock up on Halloween Sweets.

Cheapest Places To Buy Halloween Sweets

Groupon Sweets Offers

Groupon has a regular offer on large tubs of sweets which are perfect if you need loads for Halloween. I’ve tried to keep this section as up-to-date as possible, but of course, offers could sell out.

The Groupon website is actually pretty good at recommending similar products and offers though. Oh, and if you’re a new customer sign up with your email address to get a 10% or 20% discount, depending on what you order. Delivery can take a few days so it’s worth ordering in plenty of time.

  • Various Sweets from £4.98 a tub plus £1.99 delivery Includes Fizzy Cola Bottles, Happy Bears
Watermelon Rings, Giant Fizzy Blue Bottles, Twin Cherries, Cola Bottles, Juicy Lips, Fizzy Blue Bottles, Juicy Berries, Rainbow Belts (suitable for vegetarians), Giant Strawberries, Giant Cola Bottles
  • Tubs of Haribo Sweets £6 Each plus £1.99 delivery or two for £10 (must be the same)  Includes giant strawberries, rhubarb and custard, jelly babies, gold bears, heartthrobs,  jelly beans, giant cola bottles, friendship rings, happy cherries, fizzy, bubblegum bottle, sour cherries, giant strawberries zing. As a quick comparison, golden bears are 79p in Asda for 100grams. The tub from Groupon is 1080g meaning it’s around half the price.
  • Sweet Zone tubs – £5.29 Plus £1.99 delivery Includes Sugar Kisses, Foam Strawberries, Fried Eggs, Sour Chili Peppers, Fizzy Tongues, Magic Mushrooms, Jelly Babies. Fizzy Bones. I actually think this one provides the best Halloween Sweets if you’re planning to go for an all-out Halloween theme.

Buy Sweets From Cash ‘n’ Carry – Online or in Person

Costco and Bookers are one of the cheapest places to buy Halloween sweets either online or instore with most tubs of sweets (like the ones in the Groupon mentioned above) being around £3 or £4 and they often have a huge choice available.

However, you do need to be a member to get in (This post has a great offer if you’re planning to sign up to Costco)and that being said, there are some sweets, such as Sherbet Lemons, for example, that may be cheaper to buy from the supermarket.

Poundland

Poundland always has a great range of Halloween sweets and are much cheaper than supermarkets. Great for really gross sweets like gummy eye-balls. They also have a fab range of Halloween decorations and partyware.

Supermarkets

As always the supermarkets are likely to have loads offers in the run-up to Halloween. Personally, I tend to find the focus here is on chocolate, rather than sweets and the sweets on offer are usually bags of Halloween themed Haribo.

These are great if you don’t need many or aren’t catering for many people. Offers on chocolate tend to be mixed bags of Cadbury’s or Nestle treat size products. It’s worth checking the price per 100grams as the four packs of individual bars may be cheaper.

eBay

While eBay may not be the absolute cheapest places to get sweets, I’ve included them because they offer quite a lot of sweets that other places don’t and it’s often free delivery.

Pick ‘n’ Mix

Pick ‘n’ mix is a great choice for cheap Halloween Sweets because there are usually lots of sweets that could fit with a Halloween theme, such as giant gummy snakes, white chocolate mice and foam teeth. These are also sweets you’d be less likely to find in your local supermarket.

Wilko’s often have their pick ‘n’ mix discounted during half term and for a week or two in the school holidays. It used to always be half price but the last couple of half terms it’s been a £1 off each tub, meaning the small tub was half price but not the others (making it the best value!). Always weigh your tub to make sure it’s cheaper than a bag would be.

Poundland actually does pick ‘n’ mix for, you guessed it, £1, and it’s a cheap way to stock up on Halloween sweets. The tubs are quite small but still good value for £1, especially if you consider cinema pick ‘n’ mix prices!

Harry Potter Themed Sweet Table:

I actually created this three years ago for my wedding. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and the films do seem to remain very popular. If you’re not over-enthused with the idea of super scary Halloween, having a Harry Potter party instead could be a great compromise.

If you're expecting hoards of trick or treaters or having a Halloween party, here are the cheapest places to stock up on Halloween Sweets.

These are some of the sweets I used for my Harry Potter themed Sweet Table. You can find the full tutorial here.

What I loved about this was it gave us the chance to get really creative with different sweets to make them fit the Harry Potter theme.

Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans were the only ‘official’ Harry Potter sweets we bought for our wedding, and these were £3 for a tiny little packet and we bought three. As a much cheaper alternative, B&M has a dupe of the Bean Boozled game where the sweets have very similar names and flavours to the Harry Potter ones.

We then used Cadbury’s Freddo Bars as our own version of chocolate frogs (which are insanely expensive to buy – £4.50 for just one!) and then made our very own chocolate frog boxes using a template – which you can find here. These cost around £12 for a box of 60 in 2016 but you could probably find them cheaper in the supermarket. This bumper box of unbranded chocolate frogs on Amazon for just under £10 makes a good alternative to freddos or real chocolate frogs.
