Of course, this then brings its own round of money that needs spending, but often this will be far less than buying a newer property that’s totally finished.
Flooring should be given plenty of consideration when taking on a property that needs lots of renovation. It will be in every room and will need to be tailored to the purpose of each room individually.

When it comes to choosing the right flooring, there are lots of floor contractors that will be happy to help you choose the right style and design for you but it’s still helpful if you have a clear idea of what you’d like before you get started.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when choosing to floor for your home:
- Consider what is most important to you in your flooring – is it budget, durability, how easy it is to clean, ease of installation or something else?

Vinyl flooring is a brilliant budget option and has lots of desirable properties for the modern home. It’s also very easy to keep clean so is perfect if you have young children or lots of pets. Designs and styles have improved greatly in recent years and it can be laid from the roll or in tile form. Vinyl flooring is very low maintenance and inexpensive to have installed so is perfect for those on a budget. Most commonly it’s used the kitchen but is also perfect for bathrooms, playrooms, hallways and most other rooms in the home.
2. Laminate Flooring
Laminate remains a popular option throughout modern homes for its relatively budget-friendly pricing, especially if you have the skills to install it yourself. While typically used in living rooms and hallways it can also be a good option for bedrooms and kitchens too.
3. Linoleum Flooring
While Lino is slightly more expensive than other flooring options, it wins out on durability. Decent lino can last for up to forty years, meaning while the initial investment is higher, it will last much longer than other floorings.
Linoleum is most commonly used in kitchens due to its durability – it’s scratch-resistant and holds up well against most types of damage.
4. Carpet
While carpets can be expensive, budget options have improved greatly over the years, meaning it can still be an option even when you don’t want to spend a fortune. Carpet is best in rooms with low foot traffic such as bedrooms and living rooms.
