1. Give DIY A Try
One way to save some cash when it comes to beauty products could be to have a try at making your own.
This is something I’ve been trying recently as I was given some Face Masks for my birthday and my daughter really wanted to try one. Unfortunately, they weren’t suitable for under sixteens.
So, I ended up making her a DIY version, all made from products we already had in. And it was such a hit she now asks for a Face Mask every time she has a bath! So far the ones we have made have been pretty simple using natural yoghurt, honey and cocoa powder.
As well as being super cheap, these homemade masks were great because there were no chemicals and no plastic packaging.

2. Opt For Eco-Friendly Products
While we’re on the subject of being more eco-friendly, there are lots of sustainable beauty products that will save you money.
Shampoo and Conditioner bars are a great example of this. The initial cost might be a little bit more than you’re used to paying, but they should last substantially longer meaning you’ll pocket extra cash in the long run.
As there is no plastic bottle involved they are also much better for the environment although you may wish to purchase a reusable box which will stop them going soggy if they’re stored in the shower.
3. Look For Dupes of Expensive Brands
There are plenty of places you can find budget friendly beauty dupes – from the middle aisle of Aldi (their Lacura range has lots of dupes for high-end products!) to your local high street Boots store.
One of my personal favourite dupes is the Superdrug Bloom Mandarin and Lime Basil Eau de Toilette which is a great alternative to the much pricier Jo Malone version.
Another example of a dupe perfume is Lidl Madame Glamour which is supposed to be a copy of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

4. Apply For Freebies & Samples
Lots of big beauty brands actually give away freebies and samples of some of their most popular products.
Look out for ads on Facebook and Instagram and once you apply for or click on one you’ll usually find you’ll get them more and more as sponsored ads on your feed.
While the samples are usually pretty small, it can be a great way to try out products before you commit to buying a full-size product and they are often perfect for popping in your bag on a night out or taking with you when you travel.
Recent freebies include Benefit Pore Care sample simply by asking for at your local Benefit make-up counter.
5. Recycle Your Old Products
Many retailers and beauty brands offer discounts (or even sometimes free products) when you bring your empties in to be recycled.
For example, John Lewis offers £5 off a £20 spend when you return five items to them for recycling, provided you’re a My John Lewis member.
In a similar scheme, high-street retailer Boots will give you £6 back on your Boots Advantage card when you bring in five empty products for recycling and then spend £10.
6. Get Cashback On Everything You Buy
Getting cashback is a no-brainer as it’s an easy way to make a small amount of money back on much of what you purchase.
For online cashback, always check Topcashback and Quidco before to see if the retailer you are purchasing from is listed there.
When shopping in-store I earn cashback through Apps like Cheddar and Airtime Rewards. If you’re already into budget beauty these apps are great as they cover stores like Wilkos and supermarkets such as The Co-op and Sainsbury’s.
7. Make Sure You’re Getting Loyalty Points
No matter where you shop for your beauty products, make sure if there is a loyalty scheme make sure you’re signed up for it!
The most well know are probably Boots and Superdrug but again if you’re shopping for beauty basics at the supermarket don’t forget to swipe your loyalty card there too.

Sometimes it can be worth ditching fancy and expensive beauty products in favour of going back to basics with some well-known beauty brands that have stood the test of time.
Vaseline is always going to be a great product to use on chapped lips. Bastiste has been the most popular dry shampoo in the UK for over thirty years and L’Oreal Paris Elnett is still one of the best hairsprays out there.
9. Wait Until The January Sales
It can be tempting to buy beauty products in the run-up to Christmas, especially if you have lots of parties to attend or if you’re looking for some new bits and pieces as gifts from family and friends.
However, you will get much better value for money if you can wait until the January sales, when beauty gift sets can see reductions of 50% or more.
This is also a great time to stock up on things like makeup brushes. You could ask family and friends for vouchers to spend at your favourite brands or choose vouchers for somewhere like Boots or John Lewis that cover a wide range of different brands.
10. Price Track Your Favourite Items
One way to make sure you’re getting the best deal when it comes to more expensive items is to use a price-tracking website such as ideal or PriceSpy.
You can set up alerts for when your favourite items reach a certain price and you can look at the price history to figure out if ‘20% off’ really is 20% or whether the price was hiked a few weeks before to allow for the price reduction.
