The B&M Jo Malone Candle Dupe (£285 Cheaper!)

B&M has released a range of Candles that look exactly like the Luxury Brand Jo Malone – including a giant three-wick candle that is £285 cheaper than the real thing
I have to confess I’m a bit of a Candle addict. I love having a few candles burning in the evening, for both the scent and warm and cosy ambience they help create. And lately, this addiction had been getting worse – mostly because my husband who usually stops me buying every candle in sight has decided he actually loves Yankee Candles and now it’s me who has to stop him buying them when they are not on offer.
If like me you tend to take a bit of an interest in all things candle related (and even if you don’t) you may have noticed there was rather a fuss over the summer when the budget supermarket Aldi released a range of candles which looked exactly like those made by luxury brand Jo Malone. People went mad for them and many stores sold out within days of them going on sale – especially as they were just £3.99 compared with the Jo Malone Price tag of £44.

B&M Jo Malone Candle Dupe
So, imagine my delight when this morning I was scrolling through my news feed and I saw that B&M has released their own range of Jo Malone copycat candles.
The B&M Jo Malone Candle Dupe comes in two different scents. Cedar and Plum (I couldn’t find a cent close enough on the Jo Malone website for this to be an exact copy) and Raspberry and Oud – Oud is type of wood scent, yes I had to google it (the Jo Malone version of this is Redcurrant and English Oak)
My local B&M store is a 5 minute walk from my house and the temptation was just too strong – I headed straight down to see if they had any candles in stock or whether people had already gone so crazy for them they had sold out.
I was in luck.
Well, sort of.
What I didn’t realize is that the B&M version of the Jo Malone candles, like the real thing, actually come in a few different sizes. I was expecting to find ones the same size as most normal candles, around 500 grams tops. Turns out my local store only had the huge 14.5cm ones left.
They are absolutely massive but have an 85 hour burn time and 3 wicks.
So, entirely for the purposes of research of course, I decided to buy one and lug it all the way home. It is seriously weighty.
Now, obviously I do not have the real thing to compare it to. There is no way I would spend £300 on a candle. This is not a like for like compassion.
More of a review of budget version of a luxury item that most people couldn’t afford to just go out and buy.

B&M Jo Malone Candle Dupe Review
Lugging the candle home I could really smell it (Cedar and Plum) the scent was wafting up from my shopping bag giving me high hopes that the scent would be lovely when lit.
Giving the candle a good sniff when I got home it smelt really nice. Not as strong as a Yankee candle but still very pleasant.
However once lit the scent was very subtle. I asked hubby if he could smell it when he got in from work and he said ‘Nope, didn’t even realize it was lit’. Hmm. Not the best start.
It does smell a bit more the closer you get but definitely not a strong smell and nothing like a Yankee candle. We do have a large open plan living and dining space though so it may have been better and stronger scented in a smaller room.
Personally I would have preferred a stronger scent but I know some people like something a bit more subtle.

Jo Malone Big Candle Dupe Burn Time
According to the Jo Malone website the burn time on their Luxury candles is 290 hours, substantially more than the B&M version which is just 85 hours. Still you could buy 4 B&M candles and be £240 better off for the same amount of burn time.
The overall look and feel of the B&M Jo Malone Big Candle dupe is quite nice. While it doesn’t have the same level of packaging as it’s £300 doppelganger it still feels like a quality product. I love how it looks in our fireplace and I almost didn’t want to light it!
If you’re looking for something that brings a little bit of luxury into your home and don’t have £300 to spend on one candle (because honestly, who does?) then this Jo Malone Big Candle Dupe is perfect for you.
While the scent isn’t particularly strong if you like a more subtle aroma or just like the cosy comfort of having candles burning this is also for you.
Would I buy another Jo Malone Dupe Candle From B&M?
Absolutely. The look of the B&M Jo Malone Candle Dupe candle fits in perfectly with our decor and while £15 is a bit more than I would normally spend on one candle the 85 hour burn time does feel like it gives value for money. I also think it would make a lovely Christmas gift, especially if it was wrapped up nicely to give it an extra luxurious feel.
