Shopping For Pre-loved Clothes With BuyCharity

I love buying clothes second-hand and I was recently asked to try out some items from Online Charity Shop Buy Charity. Here is what I choose and some of the amazing savings you could make when buying from them.
Who Are BuyCharity?
BuyCharity is essentially an online Charity Shop for those who would rather shop second-hand from the comfort of their own home.
It’s great if you’re looking for something but haven’t been able to find it in your own local charity shops. You can buy pre-loved items online and know that your money is going to worthy causes.
All the charities featured are pre-checked so you know they are legitimate.
They have also recently launched an item hunter service so if you’re looking for something specific you can send a request that alerts all the charity shops registered and they can then see if they have the item in stock.
Why Buy Second Hand Clothing?
Before we take a look at the items I ordered, I thought it might be worth taking a look at some of the reasons you want to buy second-hand clothes.
- Buying second hand is great for the environment and prevent clothes from ending up in landfill. It can also help lower the demand for fast fashion.
- Secondhand clothes are often much cheaper than buying new ones. This means you might be able to afford better quality and in turn, your clothes will last longer.
- Buying second-hand doesn’t always mean buying used – you can find loads of clothes that are brand new with tags.
- Great way to support charities.
What I Ordered From BuyCharity
After having a good browse of the BuyCharity website, I decided to order two secondhand dresses and one pair of boots.
Since having a baby three years ago, I’ve been really struggling to find dresses that suit my shape, but I’m slowly learning what style to go for so this was a great opportunity to add a couple more to my collection. And of course, I was thrilled they would be second hand just like the majority of my clothes.
Both dresses were made by the brand Jack Wills and were brand new with tags. These were amazing finds as they are the type of dress I’d baulk at paying full price for even if I really liked it.
In fact, one of the dresses still had its original tags on and was £79.50 originally before being reduced to £32 in the sale. BuyCharity were selling it for just £13 making it an amazing bargain. And of course, being brand new, both dresses were in immaculate condition.
Both dresses also had some really interesting detail at the back. While the dresses are quite similar, one is more of a day dress that I’d wear out for coffee or lunch and the other is much more of a party or evening dress. I’m going away to London next week and I think I’m going to be taking both dresses with me!
Next, up I ordered some ankle boots. Now, I realised buying Women’s Preloved shoes might not be for everyone. Personally, I don’t have an issue with buying lightly worn shoes, but the great thing about buying second hand is you can often find brand new shoes at a fraction of what they would have cost new.
Major retailers often donate leftover stock and seconds to charity shops (something I have written about here) and sometimes people buy new shoes and either forget to return them when they don’t fit or just don’t end up wearing them.
This was the case with boots I ordered from the BuyCharity website. They were originally from Very and brand new in the box, so of course were in perfect condition. The boots cost £25 from the BuyCharity website but a little bit of research shows they would have been over £50 brand new.
Overall, I’m really happy with my gifted items from BuyCharity and I’ll definitely be checking out the website in the future in the hope of finding even more awesome bargains.
