How To Get Cheap Yoto Cards (And Free Yoto Content)
This post may contain Affiliate Links
If you’ve bought a Yoto Player, chances are you’ve probably bought a few Yoto cards to go with it. However, the cost of these cards can quickly start to add up, especially if your child loves listening to stories every day.
While anything that encourages children to read, listen and use their imagination is (in my opinion) always worth investing in, I still think it’s worth looking at ways to save money on Yoto cards.
The good news is there are lots of ways to find cheap Yoto cards, get free Yoto content, and make the most of the cards you already own.
Use Blank Yoto Cards
Don’t forget about the blank Yoto card. These are one of my favourite ways to add more content without constantly buying new cards.
You can use a blank Yoto card to record your own stories, add audiobooks you already own, or have grandparents and family members record themselves reading stories.
The best part is that you can update them as often as you like, making them a really easy and affordable way to refresh your Yoto content.
Join Yoto Club
The Yoto Club subscription gives you credits that can be used towards buying Yoto cards at a discounted price.
If you’re planning to buy several cards throughout the year, this can be a good way to reduce the overall cost.
Look Out For World Book Day Yoto Card Deals
World Book Day is one of the best times to look for cheap Yoto cards.
This year, Yoto had a huge sale with lots of cards available for just £1 plus delivery (which I think was around £3 or £4).
Some cards sold out quickly, but more cards (of different titles) were added throughout the day.
There was a great selection, including Disney cards, Rainbow Magic, and cards aimed at younger children. I picked up the Copy Me card for my two-year-old.
It’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for similar sales in the future.
Listen To The Yoto Daily Podcast
While this won’t give you extra Yoto cards, it is a great way to get more value from your Yoto Player without spending anything extra.
We are huge fans of Jake and the Yoto Daily podcast in our house. I think I enjoy listening to it almost as much as the kids do (although I do have to stop myself shouting out the answers to the riddles and quizzes!).
It’s a brilliant source of free Yoto content and a great addition to your daily routine.
Buy Yoto Card Bundles
Yoto often runs offers on bundles of cards, which can work out cheaper than buying individual cards.
For example, you can often find collections such as the Julia Donaldson collection available as a bundle.
If you already know your child enjoys a particular author or series, bundles can be a good way to save money.
Sign Up To The Yoto Newsletter
The Yoto newsletter is worth signing up for if you want to find out about discounts, offers and new releases (my daughter was very excited when we got the email to say they were realeasing the K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack as a Yoto card!).
They also sometimes share free Yoto content, such as seasonal activities and free draw-alongs during the school holidays.
Check Smyths Toys For Yoto Card Offers
It’s worth keeping an eye on Yoto cards at Smyths Toys.
I’ve seen Yoto cards discounted there before, and they may have offers at different times throughout the year.
Buy Second-Hand Yoto Cards
Buying second-hand Yoto cards can be a good way to save money.
You can find them on websites such as eBay and Vinted, as well as second-hand retailers like CEX.
However, it’s worth checking the total cost carefully. With CEX, for example, if the cards are stored at different locations, postage costs can sometimes mean you don’t actually save much compared with buying new.
I’ve also noticed that after popular sales (such as the World Book Day offer), some cards appear on resale sites at hugely inflated prices compared to what people would habe paid on the day.
Once postage and fees are added, they can sometimes cost almost as much as buying new, so it’s worth comparing prices before purchasing.
Buy Yoto Cards Through Amazon
Yoto has a dedicated Amazon store, and it’s another place worth checking for deals.
There are sometimes discounts available, although availability can change quickly (there wasn’t anything when I checked for writing this article but that might not the case at a later date)
One advantage of buying through Amazon is that it can be a good way to use up Amazon vouchers or gift cards and these can be easy to earn online.
Add Your Yoto Cards To The App
One final tip: always add your Yoto cards to the Yoto app once you purchase them.
That way, if a physical card gets lost or damaged, you can still play the content through the app on your Yoto Player.
FAQ – Free & Discounted Yoto Cards
Are Yoto cards free?
When you purchase a Yoto Player, it usually comes with a blank Yoto card included. This can be used to add your own stories, music or audio content to your Yoto Player.
Aside from blank cards, Yoto cards are not usually free. Prices typically start from around £8, with larger collections costing more. For example, the 6-card Julia Donaldson collection is priced higher than individual cards.
However, the Yoto Player does come with additional free digital content, including the Yoto Daily podcast, which is a great way to get more from your player without buying extra cards.
Can you get free Yoto cards?
Generally, Yoto cards are not available for free, although there are sometimes special offers where cards are heavily discounted.
For example, during the World Book Day sale, some Yoto cards were reduced to just £1 plus delivery.
It’s worth keeping an eye out for promotions, as these can be a great way to build your collection for less.
Where is the cheapest place to buy Yoto cards?
The cheapest place to buy Yoto cards can vary depending on current offers and sales.
Yoto regularly runs promotions, and you can sometimes find discounted cards through retailers such as Smyths Toys or by purchasing bundles directly from Yoto.
Buying second-hand Yoto cards can also be cheaper, although it’s important to compare the total cost once postage and fees are included.
My best tip is to compare prices before buying and sign up for the Yoto newsletter so you don’t miss any discounts or special offers.
Can you reuse blank Yoto cards?
Yes, blank Yoto cards can be reused again and again.
You can remove the existing content and add something new whenever you like, making them a really cost-effective way to refresh your Yoto Player content over time.
