Figuring out where to eat at while Visiting Disney World can seem like a mammoth task – here I share our favourite place to eat at Disney Springs
When visiting Disney World, especially from the U.K planning the trip can seem like an enormous task. With everything to consider, from Advanced Dining Reservations to Fast Passes and everything in between it can be easy to get overwhelmed. In this post, I am sharing with you our favourite place to eat while visiting Disney Springs, why we loved it so much and why we thought it offered the absolute best value for money.
It’s all the in the planning
The Disney Quick Service Dining Plan had actually been included free with our booking from the U.K and we choose to upgrade so that we could have one proper sit down ‘Table Service’ meal each day. This came with the added bonus of not having to worry about carrying too much cash on us in the parks and it meant we could order whatever we wanted from the menu without the price being an issue – perfect when I was travelling with two guys that love their steak.
And I’ll admit it – I spent hours upon hours planning our first trip to Disney world. I booked all the restaurants we wanted at 180 days out which meant planning which parks to visit each day too, six months before we even travelled.
Because we were on the TS Dining Plan so one sit down meal per day needed to be booked in advance. This made sure we got to eat in some of the most popular restaurants such as Be Our Guest (which is Beauty and the Beast themed) and The Boathouse which is a super fancy Steak Restaurant at Disney Springs.
I also came up with a list of Quick Service places we want to eat at as well. These tend to be places that serve easy meals to go such as Burger and Fries or chicken although with Disney being so vast there are plenty that serve other things too.
Not wanting to turn into the worlds biggest control freak I did leave us a few slots open to choose what we fancied to eat on the day and this is what happened one night when we headed to Disney Springs. We weren’t really sure what wanted and my husband started googling places we could eat.
Dining at the Polite Pig
As I mentioned before I was travelling with two carnivores who love their meat so they were overjoyed to find somewhere serving ribs, brisket and half roast chickens.
We originally intended to pay out of pocket for our meals here and couldn’t believe our luck when we got to the till and they said it was included as part of the Dining Plan and was only a Quick Service credit at that. We thought this offered the most amazing value as without the dining plan our bill would have been well over $80. Each main came with a side, a bread roll and a drink. We also used a snack credit to try the Spicy Pork Scratchings.
What we Ate at The Polite Pig
- I had the Brisket (pictured below) on both nights. The first night with Sweet Potato Tater-tots and the second night with Mac ‘n’ Cheese.
- Both Boys had the BBQ Ribs and Corn on both nights (Pictured below) simply because it was so good they were more than happy to have it again!
Most main meals come in at around $15 – $20 which is a lot better value than using a QS credit at the Water Parks, for example, where the average meals are $10. It’s also a great option for those looking to get away from endless plates of fried food or those looking for classics comfort foods like Mac ‘n’ Cheese. And there is no need to tip at Quick Service places either.
The food we ate at the Polite Pig was some of my favourite we have eaten over two trips to the USA. We sat outside, watched the world go by and enjoyed the evening slowly cooling down. It was so good we actually went back again the next night even though we’d moved to a Universal hotel. It was the only place we ate twice during our trip and I can’t wait to back again sometime in the future.
