If you don’t get things quite right when purchasing a new PC you could end up buying something that doesn’t fulfil your needs, such as not having enough memory, having poor screen quality or not being powerful enough. Conversely, you could also end up forking out far too much money on spec you don’t actually need.
In this post, I am going to take a look at the difference between a traditional style Desktop PC and an All In One PC to determine which might be the better option.
Traditional Desktop PC Vs. All In One – Which Should I Buy?
When looking at desktop computers for sale you’ll need to decide whether to go for a Desktop PC or whether to choose an All In One version. Both of these have pros and cons and you’ll need to weigh up which one be will best for you and anyone else that might be using it, such as children who want to game or do their school work.
Pros Of A Traditional Desktop PC
A traditional style desktop computer consists of a tower, monitor, mouse and keyboard. There are lots of advantages to this setup, including it being more customizable than an All In One PC.
It’s often the more budget-friendly choice, especially if you already own a monitor and keyboard.
As you can easily add more storage, graphics cards or a more powerful processor, the desktop computer should last longer, as you can upgrade various elements as you need to.
As the parts are usually purchased separately, you can choose the exact monitor and keyboard you want.
Cons Of A Traditional Desktop PC
There are some downsides too though, such as it being very bulky, which isn’t the best if you’re limited on space.
Having to purchase each part separately isn’t nearly as convenient as everything coming in one box and can mean more research to figure out which is the best mouse, keyboard and monitor to buy to go with it.
Pros Of An All In One PC
An All In One PC has the distinct advantage of being easy to set up. Everything is in the box and ready to go, and unlike a traditional desktop PC, there is no tower as all of the inner workings are placed behind the screen.
All you need to do is add a mouse and keyboard which are usually included with your purchase. Speakers are usually integrated too.
Cons Of An All In One PC
Disadvantages include the cost as it can often be more expensive than a Desktop PC, even when taking into account buying each part of the Desktop separately. The quality of some components, such as the speakers, can also be lacking and it’s much less customizable.
Often the components used are more similar to a laptop computer than a desktop tower. However, no tower means it’s a great purchase if space is very limited.
Overall I think the traditional style desktop with a tower is best for gamers and those who do a lot of photographic and editing work on their PC and when space isn’t an issue.
The All In One PC is better suited to those who are less tech-savvy, want a nice easy setup and only have basic processing needs such as emails and browsing.
Whichever you end up purchasing, don’t forget to keep all the receipts in case of any problems and to register your warranty with the manufacturer.
