Financial planning may not be something you’ve ever given a huge amount of thought too especially if you don’t have a mortgage or a work pension. If you’re on a low income or not interested in investing, or retired, it might be something you feel doesn’t interest or benefit you. You might also be worried about the cost. However, during CISI Financial Planning Week, which runs from the 7-11 October 2019, consumers are being offered the chance to have a planning session completely free of charge.

Despite considering ourselves good with money, my husband and I still see a financial planner once a year. She takes a good look over our finances, advises where she can and answers any questions we might have about our future – such as pensions, remortgaging and life insurance. We discuss our long term goals for our businesses and things like our desire to pay off our mortgage early and buy a second rental property.

Reasons To See A Financial Planner

The great thing about a financial planner is that they are completely unbiased so won’t try to sell you any products and will answer any questions you might have as honestly as they can based on the information you have given them.

I’ve written before about the fact my husband and I currently don’t have a pension plan and how much this could affect our life when we retire. If this is something that sounds familiar, one of these free planning sessions could be exactly what you need to get some clarity on what you could be doing for a better financial future.

All UK consumers offered free financial planning sessions worth up to £500

7-11 October in CISI Financial Planning Week

The sessions are an hour long and would usually cost as much as £500 so they are definitely worth taking a look at – you’ve got nothing to lose by having an open discussion about your finances. They can be booked before, during or after CISI Financial Planning Week (which runs from the 7-11 October 2019)

‘CFPTM qualified professionals, in particular, offer a 360-degree, holistic approach, with the ethos very much focused on putting life goals and financial well-being first. Their designation means they approach these important sessions with integrity and sensitivity, aiming to do the right thing for the consumer.’ Jacqueline Lockie CFPTM, Chartered FCSI and CISI Head of Financial Planning

Things you could discuss during a free financial guidance session:

  • Pensions – even if you have auto-enrolled in a workplace pension there is still much more you could be doing to protect your financial future
  • Retired Pensions – whether withdrawing too much could affect your future
  • Settings goals such as saving up to buy a house.
  • Getting a better overview of your finances and seeing where you could improve.
  • Organise your finance so they work better for you.
  • Futureproofing for your family

These sessions are for any ages and any income so if you think they would benefit you it’s definitely worth signing up for. Sessions can take place in person, via skype or over the phone. Additionally, there will also be ‘ask a planner’ online sessions. You can find your nearest financial planner here cisi.org/ or by calling 020 7645 0777. Sessions are with a local CFPTM professional or another financial planner.

CFP professionals are supremely qualified to offer financial guidance not only to pre or post retirees, but to anyone at differing life stages.

Great to see your blog promoting Financial Planning Week.
As a Certified Financial Planner, this is a great time initiative that allows us to give back to the community and help those who wouldn’t normally engage a financial planner.

Financial planners are crucial for families like my own that need some advice on when and where to spend my money. I would be lost without my financial planner who literally goes through every single last penny I spend including food shopping, bills and mortgage.
