Getting married soon? Then the Hen Party Planning is probably well underway. . .
I knew when I was planning my wedding I knew I didn’t want a typical Hen Party. L plates and phallic straws are just not my thing – I wanted something more relaxed and fun so opted for a Center Parcs break with bridesmaids.
If you’re looking for something fun but a bit more classy why not try one of these film related hen party ideas?
The theme you choose for your hen night and wedding will dictate everything from the venue you choose to the outfit you wear, so it makes sense to decide on a theme as soon as possible. If you know you want a theme, but you don’t know where to start, why not take inspiration from the cinema?
Here are some really cool film-inspired hen night themes that will make your big day a memorable occasion.
A Grease-themed hen/wedding is a great place to start because it’s such a classic film – everyone loves it – and it has a perfect 50s retro feel. In order to create a Grease-inspired hen, all you need to do is send out vintage wedding invitations, hire a retro diner, create a 50s Rock-n-Roll inspired playlist and find the perfect 50s dress. Well, there’s a bit more to it than that, but it really is one of the easiest themes to pull off.
The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is an immensely popular novel and film set in the Jazz age, which again makes it perfect for an interesting hen night theme – cute flapper dresses anyone? Charleston on the dancefloor?
As well as picking out period outfits, you’ll want to find an art deco mansion or hotel to hold the event in and ensure that there’s plenty of Champagne on tap. Learning how to do the Charleston will be a showstopper when you break it out for the first dance too!
Alice in Wonderland
Another classic novel that has been made into a number of films, Alice in Wonderland is the ideal theme for those brides who are a bit on the quirkier side because it’s all about psychedelia, pretty pastel colours, whimsical tea parties and vintage dress. Set it in a woodland, or decorate your venue with lots of flowers, plants, herbs and china tea sets and it will be one of the most memorable hen nights ever, and it will be all yours.
If you’re a fan of the quirky French classic Amelie, you will know that it’s known for its rich French style with lots of rich reds, vintage furniture and of course, decadent French foods. It’s basically the perfect inspiration for a hen night. Just base your venue on Amelie’s apartment style and layout lots of delicious French cheeses, croissants, macarons, and of course, coffee. It’ll be unusual but in the best possible way!
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Originally a book, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is much more famous for the film that featured a very beautiful, very sophisticated Audrey Hepburn. So, if you’re looking for a theme that’s a bit more grown up and allows you to be a lot more demure, it is the perfect choice. Find the most elegant hotel in your city, get the classic Audrey haircut and decorate everything in black and white with blue and white cakes that look just like a Tiffany’s box. It will be amazing!
The Little Mermaid
The trend for mermaids shows no signs of abating, so if you’re a fan, when not organise a beach-based hen night or wedding where you can wear a beautiful fishtail dress, put pastel colours in your hair and say “ I do.” with lapping waves in the background. Hold it at night, light lots of candles, and it’ll be even more wonderful.
Which hen party theme would you choose? Or would you go for something entirely different?
